Untitled[edit]

RTHK has a visually stimulating and interesting website for people to visit and get up dated information through Radio-on demand or Television On-Deman (TV on-demand link being constructed currently)

Don't put in 'this year' as this page isn't dated. The photos need improving - they've been optimised poorly. I also think that some thought needs to be given to how much detail is needed on all these Hong Kong media articles. Of course there is no word limit but some of the trivia needs stripping out and it needs to be made less topical. Maybe you need to think about who is the audience and why they would look at the article? Secretlondon 13:36, Oct 29, 2003 (UTC)

I've copyedited most of the article but i'll leave the history of rthk section to someone else ;) Plop 20:37, Apr 10, 2004 (UTC)

I have filled in some of the gaps in the history and also made one or two minor corrections. These were all based on my personal knowledge of the station as a member of staff from 1967-1976 — kintak 07:38, 10 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:RTHK-logo.svg[edit]

Image:RTHK-logo.svg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

I have changed the article to give Cantonese romanisation for the title subject; this is clearly most appropriate because it is an article mainly relating to Hong Kong. 81.156.203.88 (talk) 09:55, 24 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 28 September 2018[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: not moved: no consensus and data suggests current placement is valid. Only one additional comment in nearly three weeks (non-admin closure) Kevin McE (talk) 11:29, 20 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

RTHKRadio Television Hong Kong – the full spelling is common name and more recognizable, see also on secondary source http://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-08-29/hong-kong-professor-wife-body-in-campus-box/10179152 https://www.scmp.com/magazines/post-magazine/long-reads/article/2162050/home-hong-kong-heritage-pink-house-peak-steeped Matthew_hk tc 20:45, 27 September 2018 (UTC) --Relisting. • Contesting because I am not so sure it's that simple. Radio/TV stations often use initials and their logo is RTHK. Worth a discussion I think. — Frayæ (Talk/Spjall) 20:55, 27 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Re: personal experience and user generated search term are not really WP:reliable source, but merely for supporting one (or two) criterion in WP:COMMONNAME. Matthew_hk tc 19:01, 30 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Are Ngram statistics subjective? They indicate that usage of "RTHK" is more common. feminist (talk) 06:32, 1 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support - it is the full legal name of the organisation and is less ambiguous than the initials. A cursory glance at the list of public broadcasters, it does seem more common, especially in Asia, to use the full name. Kdm852 02:34, 1 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak oppose. The current title is in use, and I see no strong case for changing the status quo. bd2412 T 02:16, 20 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

"Breach of Charter" Section[edit]

I would suggest that we rename this section, something like "WHO Controversy" or "One China Policy Controversy", since the accusation of "Breach of Charter" made by the govt has not yet been substantiated. The current title suggests that RTHK has explicitly breached its charter, which is still only an accusation and the Director of RTHK has countered that the Charter was not breached (which I personally agree that it has not). Kdm852 (talk) 03:58, 7 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I think RTHK had quite a many "Breach of Charter" incidents since 1997. I agreed that for the current content of that section, it should be renamed. However, if the section added back content regarding the previous political accusation as "Breach of Charter" , the section does not need to be renamed.
