I hardly think this development forms the western edge of the CBD. The CBD extends North as far as Circular Quay. At least it's better than the previous content, which described it as a suburb.

See this map where the development is shown as the two blocks highlighted in red immediately below the first 'y' in Wynyard. Andrewa 10:57, 19 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

Several 'minor' edits later and it now reads North Western edge which is even less accurate. This development forms 300 metres of the perimeter of the greater CBD at best, probably only Real Estate agents would extend the CBD this far West. The CBD proper is centred on Bridge Street and Martin Plaza, to the North-East of this area. Again see the map in my personal webspace; Martin Plaza is the unlabelled green-shaded street running East-West immediately North of King Street. This development is in the lobe of the greater CBD, which extends South to Town Hall and a little beyond.
Face facts, Gene. Your POV is showing badly. You're trying too hard to make this seem significant. But make it accurate and it might even become a keepable stub. Andrewa 11:26, 19 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]
It says "north-western edge of the CBD" - which is absolutely accurate. The rest of the western edge is formed by Darling Harbour. Circular Quay is dead centre north, and not even relevant to the discussion. --Gene_poole 11:28, 19 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]
Again, you're somewhat confused about the city you claim to reside in. Wynyard is part of the CBD, as are all the streets to the west, ie Kent, York etc, extending to the water's edge. On the other side of Cockle Bay is Pyrmont, which is not part of the CBD. How much more simply can I explain the obvious? --Gene_poole 11:35, 19 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]
I'm fascinated. I think you're the first person to ever doubt that I lived in Sydney. I've been here since 1957. I worked in the CBD for about twenty years, a few of them at 77 King Street (corner of George Street) in fact. These days I rarely go closer than the Fish Markets, about one kilometre WSW of King Street Wharf, unless I'm driving to the airport which takes me through the Sydney Harbour Tunnel and then close by the Eastern side of the CBD. So I'm sure there is lots I don't know.
Hmmm. I can't see how any reasonable description of the CBD would make King Street Wharf part of its North-Western boundary. King Street Wharf is West-South-West of the Sydney Stock Exchange, which is in Bridge Street (see map again), and due West of the head office of the Reserve Bank of Australia, which is in Martin Plaza. Surely these two are both in the CBD?
Agree that Pyrmont is not part of the CBD, but I don't really see how that helps. We've already agreed that this development is on the edge of the CBD I think. Andrewa 12:42, 19 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

...along with the suburb of Millers Point, borders the north-western edge of Sydney's Central Business District...? Well, in a way that's true, but it's still highly misleading. This development is South of Miller's Point and forms a small part of the Western boundary of the greater CBD. It's in no way to the North or North-West of the CBD. I rang the centre office (Sydney 9299 3513) and got some details which I have added to the article. I think the article should be renamed to King Street Wharf assuming it is kept, and on VfD I've offered to add some photos but that may take a while. Andrewa 01:32, 20 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree with your comments concerning the position relative to the CBD - which by most definitions extends north from Railway Square - but I don't see that as a major issue. The article is looking fine to my eye. --Gene_poole 02:08, 20 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

I can't resist pointing out that Railway Square is 2.3 kilometres almost due south of Circular Quay, which you haven't disputed as being the northern boundary of the CBD. If the CBD is this big, then your earlier claim that a 350 metre section of the Darling Harbour waterfront forms the western edge of the CBD is at least misleading, or dare I borrow your term and say confused.
