Is organization along industry lines _not_ a basic principle?[edit]
(I consider myself an anarcho-syndicalist, but I am not a scholar of the philosophy, so I'm posing this as a "Talk" question, rather than just making an edit.)
I thought and consider organization along industry "lines" (granted that such can be blurry; the IWW, based on past experience, solves this problem by classifying members as in more than one industry, when applicable, so it is not an insurmountable difficulty) to be a "basic principle" of anarcho-syndicalism (for the sake of brevity, I will assume that readers understand what this means, though it should probably warrant explanation-by-example in the article, if that isn't already there somewhere): is that not the consensus of movement pundits? If I am (reasonably) correct, I or someone else should add that to the second paragraph of the article; if I am not correct, I'd be interested in learning why that is not considered a "basic principle."
(Additionally, and this is perhaps more a matter of taste, though it does inform my view that industrial organization is a basic principle, I feel the article, at least the initial passages--I haven't read the whole article--gives short shrift to the theoretical rôle of anarcho-syndicalism post-revolution, i.e., the continued and continuing function of the industry-based worker organization in the post-revolution economy and society. I keep seeing this same section popping up in a number of articles. Each time it's cited to the same source, that being Jeff Shantz's homonymous 2011 article. This begs the question: does this tendency actually exist or is it just a term coined by this one person that we're giving undue weight to? -- Grnrchst (talk) 09:07, 17 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
