The term “Hx” is also used among certain modern American music cultures to describe an increasingly popular, advanced hybrid of musical influences and styles, which combines melodic harmonies and aggressive rhythms. This is primarily heard in the broad ends of the rock spectrum, being “emo” and “hard-core.” It is widely believed, among the musicians who adopt this theory of music, that the term was originated in a west coast underground music scene called stadia.
