Edit POV wording to be more neutral[edit]

Indigenous peoples[edit]

The status of Chakma or any other tribe of Bangladesh as Indigenous peoples is much debated. Rainmaker23 edited the article CLAIMING as a rv, but which is not a revert, in a standing of NPOV. Rather, it is a POV to state Chakma as indigenous, as the status is not unanimous; while stating them as a tribe is purely neutral. There should be a section about their indigenous status in the article, but unless they are legally given that status, putting it in the intro, is POV and not NPOV. Please note the definition of Indigenous peoples per Wikipedia. I am not an anthropologist, so, I should not partake in the debate of whether they should be given a indigenous status or not; but as an editor, I should stick to what it is now (and hope they get what they deserve soon). --» nafSadh did say 06:31, 11 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Much debated Nafsadh? Why is it that all most every single major newspaper in Bangladesh and the UN recognize them as indigenous? Even the present ruling party did so until coming to power. For you to keep reinserting the term tribe is high bias on your part, since it's a term opposed vehemently by a lot of indigenous representatives. Also, keep in mind that at the time of partition in 1947, the hill people constituted 92% of the majority in the Chittagong Hill Tracts (that's come down to 50% now because of Bengali settlement). So even 60 years ago, the region was indigenous primarily to the Chakmas and other ethnic groups in the hills.--Rainmaker23 (talk) 19:12, 19 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
