Publisher of Red Mole[edit]

Actually, the IGM did publish "The Red Mole". Maybe later they changed the name to "Red Weekly", but I have had the "Red Mole" in my hands quite often enough. There is also this famous photo of John Lennon holding a copy thf "Red Mole" at some demonstration. --84.129.105.221 15:39, 23 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Ireland[edit]

I just discussed this comments "They were firm believers in Leon Trotsky's theory of permanent revolution going so far as to claim that the IRA's bombing campaign in London indicated that the permanent revolution was coming to Britain. I have pinned this down. In 1968, International described the civil rights movement in Northern Ireland under the headline 'Permanent Revolution comes to the UK'.

Commented You Tube link[edit]

The YouTuve clip has the BBC 3 station ident on the logo. I don't know who put it on YouTube, but I ma personally familiar with the participants. The clip seems to be a direct copy of the BBC programme, and it accurately reflects their views. The programme does make the claim that the IMG took a different approach to the squatters struggles. A little light relief[edit]

I can't help but feel that this article shares a fault with its subject, namely a tendency to take itself rather too seriouly. I therefore offer two sets of verses which seem to be to speak a lot of truth about the IMG in a light hearted way.

The first is a poem written by Adrian Mitchell after the split in the Black Dwarf editorial board. The original can be found in Tariq Ali's magisterial work The Coming British Revolution

'I'm an entrist centrist Pabloite workerist,
Sweet Fourth International and never been kissed,
I've got a mass Red Base that's why I'd rather sit on the floor,
If you're looking for a vanguard better join Securicor,

My daddy was opportunistic my mother was mystified,
I want to be a movement but there's no one on my side.'

Tariq Ali was characteristically scornful of this poem in the book I've just mentioned.( To be fair to him at least the title of the book is still relevant.)

Talking of Tariq Ali the following was sung in the bar at the NUS Conference in Liverpool in 1974 to the tune of 'Sweet Betsy from Pike'

I met Tariq Ali on the Tube yesterday,
A bloated Red Mole in a terrible way,
He said he'd been on the Red Circle since nine,
But he just couldn't find the Majority Line.

IMG IMG fear and the dread of the whole bourgeoisie,
IMG IMG volumes and volumes of bankrupt theory.

I wonder if we could get these in to the article in some way that accords with Wikipedia guideliines.

A serious point[edit]

“By 1977, when the leadership team around Tariq Ali had started the organisation on the road towards Socialist Challenge”. I don't think that at that point in the IMG's history you can talk of the, or even a, leadership team being "around" Tariq. THe majority leadership was led John Ross and Brian Grogan.
