This page needs info about physical development as well as cognitive.

Newborns are very different than infants. Can we break the redirect from newborn to a separate article on newborns? Samw

no offense but....[edit]

this has to be the sloppiest wikipedia i've come across. needs a great deal of work. i won't have time until autumn to tackle it. Kingturtle 03:48, 3 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, it needs work. What I'd like to see changed is the headings for each section. I think it would work best with each age group (1-4 months, 4-8 months, etc..) in large heading and then subtitles for motor and physical development. I could give it a start but help would be ace. It would really also be nice for it to be in prose rather than list form, and to have an intro, etc. Sources would be good also, I know there are a lot out there. I'm working on the article on Toys, hoping to bring it up to good or even featured article standard, and considering the considerable roll toys play in child development I intended to link to this article via a {{main|Child development}} template, but if I do manage to get that up to featured status, I'm not sure I'll want to use such a visable template to link to such a mess of an important psycological topic. ~ ONUnicorn (Talk / Contribs) 20:59, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Needs alot of work, for example, under age 4 it says may be able to write a few letters, most children can write their name at 4 and they are beginning to understand letter sounds. The web site in the external links is not an "offical" site surely a government page or a recognised body would be better? bit of a poor article in my opinion.
I propose that this article references broader concepts and understandings related to 'child development' and that a related page for child development stages is created to house all the stage specific information, which I beleive is highly useful, but maybe less relevant initially when looking to reference child development as a topic as a whole. --Evolve2k 12:30, 21 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Worldview[edit]

I have removed the "limited geographic scope" tags because they are unexplained. If you think they are deserved, then please feeel free to restore them -- but please also provide a detailed explanation of your concerns right here on this page, so that other editors can figure out what needs to be addressed.
