There is an Episcopal bishop of Aberdeen, the bishop of Diocese of Aberdeen & Orkney. I haven't got round to that yet, though. --JohnArmagh 11:33, 21 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Well, at the very least, this article should be moved to Bishop of Aberdeen (Roman Catholic) and Bishop of Aberdeen turned into a disambiguation, don't you think. Presumably beyond just the modern Roman Catholic and the Scottish Episcopal there would also be Bishops of Aberdeen in the Church of Scotland before it abolished bishops, and also medieval bishops. john k 15:08, 21 Feb 2005 (UTC)

I anticipated that you may be of that opinion (in fact I initially went as far as including the suggestion in my earlier reply but deleted it before saving it).

I object. The Episcopalian bishop is not called simply "Bishop of Aberdeen"; if that were not enough, the bishop of Aberdeen is an ancient bishopric predating the modern catholic resurrection of the diocese, and certainly the modern Anglican bishopric that doesn't even bare that name, serving as it does only a tiny proportion of the area's christian community, can hardly be said to rival the historical bishopric in topical importance. There should at least be some mention of the Protestant Bishops of Aberdeen in this article. There were Protestant Bishops of Aberdeen from at least 1721 (when Archibald Campbell was elected) until the diocese was united to that of Orkney in 1864 - a period of 143 years or more, as opposed to the 128 years the Catholic diocese has been in existence. Reformation

According to the article on the Diocese of Aberdeen, there was a time of no Catholic bishop, and the list includes bishops during this supposed time of no bishop. Does this mean that they are Episcopal bishops? If so, should some diffrentiation be made, or at least a mention of when the Episcopal Church disenfranchized the Catholics there in addition to the restoration in the 1800s?

Furthermore, the Bishop Ronald MacDonald is linked to a Scotish-American... I am guessing not the bishop intended. CJJDay 21:52, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
