I think it would be best to delete the alphabetical list altogether. It is hard to maintain, it is not up to date at all (both name and linkwise), and besides, people usually go to the provincial list, where things can be found more readily. Any takers?--Zereshk 23:31, 15 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Since I found something in the alphabetical list that wasn't in the provincial list, I'm leery of discarding information. Also, I don't speak Farsi, but it seems to me that the links for the two Golestan universities of medical science might be wrong or transposed. Corrections happily embraced. --142.232.51.187 21:14, 8 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I as a user don't have a whole lot of knowledge of provinces in Iran, so a provincial list isn't helpful to me.--Gilded Lily 22:59, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I rather agree that having both lists is redundant and that the alphabetical one would be better to delete. It is exactly what the Category:Universities in Iran will look like when populated. I realize that we're not at a complete state on that yet, but the links would still be on this page once and the maintenance will be only half as difficult. I would be willing to help cross-reference the two lists so no schools will be lost. Cpastern 01:48, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with the removal of alphabetical section. We should however check whether all of them are mentioned in provincial lists. Sarmadys (talk) 13:23, 4 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I am going to start moving alphabetical list to provincial list. I will proceed province by province, making sure no university is removed. In next step I will remove external links for universities which have their own wikipedia page. For those which don't have a page yet, i will leave the external links until a page is created for them.Sarmadys (talk) 13:28, 4 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Excessive external links[edit]

See Wikipedia:External links. A very useful and well laid out list, but lists such as this discourage development of WP pages. They should consist of a predominance of internal rather than external links. -- Iantalk 07:35, 22 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Problem is that we dont have internal links for most of these colleges. So the entire page will end up being made of red internal links. As soon as we write an article for a college, we always replace the external link with the internal one.--Zereshk 19:41, 22 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I Think This Should Move[edit]

...to "List of Universities in Iran" which follows article title conventions better. I am, however, scared about really screwing something up and would prefer that someone with more know-how take care of it.--Gilded Lily 23:16, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The current title, "List of universities in Iran," corresponds to the title guidelines. See Wikipedia:Naming conventions. Note that "conventions" is lowercase ; ) Cpastern 01:43, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
