Birth, death dates[edit]

Anyone have good sources for his birth and death dates (preferably, written, footnoted...) - from the internet, lovably reliable (sarcastic enough?) I have from [1] his birth on May 31st 1866 and his death on August 4th 1920, from [2] his birth on June 1st and death also in August (ok, acceptable difference) but some also-internet sources place his death in December of '20. (A few of Rebikoff/Rebikov/Rebikow's works have been republished and recorded recently, the latter on Gallo and at least twice- choral and string-orchestra works- on Claves.) M. Montagu-Nathan writes in his book "Contemporary Russian Composers", published 1917, that "With regard to the date of Vladimir Ivanovich Rebikof's birth, all authorities, excepting the composer himself, agree. He gives the May 19th date (which is May 31st on our modern calendar. Being written in 1917, it doesn't, of course, list his death date. Cjeads1988 (talk) 21:10, 18 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Larry Sitsky, in his monograph Music of the Repressed Russian Avant-Garde, 1900-1929, page 10, lists his death as August 4th, 1920 (OS), which would be August 17th in the new style. No source cited, but it's a printed scholarly text. Cjeads1988 (talk) 02:09, 19 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
That's not right. By 1920 (in February 1918, to be exact) the Soviet Union had adopted the Gregorian calendar, so August 4, 1920 was the date of death.
Oh, and by the way, it wasn't on October 1, 1920 as we currently have it. I'll fix that. -- Jack of Oz [pleasantries] 10:03, 7 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
