Former BBC Radio 5[edit]

Before the news format - 5 live was obviously a slightly different station: BBC_Radio_5_(former)BBC_Radio_5_(former). Should the two articles be merged? There is a lot of similarity and it isn't clear that there are two articles... Turbo Dragon (talk) 09:21, 5 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Name change to 5 Live[edit]

Do we need to edit all the references from 'Five Live' to '5 Live' now?--Tibbs2 10:50, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Apparently, the name is actually BBC Radio 5live, according to the BBC website (yes, it does look silly. Not my fault...) -- LondonStatto 08:45, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Currently the BBC website styles the station as 5 live (with a space before a lower case l) Headhitter (talk) 13:29, 20 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Schedule[edit]

According to Section 1.7.7 of Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not Wikipedia is not a TV/Radio guide. Can I suggest rather than delete all the information it should be reorganised into a Presenters and Programmes section? Sonic 17:41, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Current Programmes[edit]

The Late Show With Steven Nolan changed to The Steven Nolan Show. 82.153.194.34 12:27, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

BBC Radio 5 and BBC Radio Five Live[edit]

The comment that Five Live launched a BBC Radio 5 isn't right, when the name change the purpose and content of the radio station changed, just a BBC Choice closed and was replaced by CBBC and BBC Three, BBC Knowledge was closed and replaced by cBeebies and BBC FOUR and so on. It would be much better to have a 'BBC Radio 5' page and treat Five Live as a new network. Briantist 20:05, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

Just a note, that all the BBC Radio 5 redirects redirect here to this article, as opposed to the new article. --tgheretford (talk) 20:36, 13 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Slogans[edit]

Should the slogans be strictly from the web site, or should we also use the on-air imaging eg "On DAB digital radio...", etc.? Radiopathy •talk• 15:56, 21 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
They don't use 'On DAB digital radio', etc. any longer. They have a new set of slogans from this week. Updated to comply with these. Smithy123456789 (talk) 21:56, 8 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Merger proposal[edit]

The current situation is not ideal. BBC Radio 5 (former) is a short article and it would be better to merge it here, so that readers could have the full history in one article. Although there are some differences between the old Radio 5 and Five Live, it is misleading to give the impression (not entirely cleared up by the disambiguation in the header) that the station started its life in 1994.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 08:45, 7 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment The lead should make it clearer that Radio 5 Live grew out of the original Radio 5. The entire station was not created one day in 1994. What happened in 1994 was part relaunch and part rebranding exercise.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 18:48, 7 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

no need for a separate page[edit]

It's absurd to pretend that a cosmetic relaunch constitutes the starting of a new radio-station. All the BBC did was move things around a bit and rebrand the station. The BBC is constantly tweaking its offerings. It's unencyclopaedic to fall for such a marketing ploy. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.189.103.145 (talk) 17:29, 19 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
