Omissions make this Article misleading[edit]

The Article states:

He [Mel Fisher] also proposed the idea to several other potential helpers who were discouraged by the fact that this dangerous professional diving job was at minimum wage unless the ship was found. The Atocha wreck and its mother lode of silver, gold, and emeralds was finally discovered in July 1985. It was Mel's son, Kane, who radioed the news to Treasure Salvors headquarters on the Florida coast, from the salvage boat Dauntless.

In fact, the "discovery" took place years earlier. By 1975 numerous artifacts linked the wreck to the Atocha. The same source cited for the comment above states:

In 1975, his son Dirk found five bronze cannon whose markings would clinch identification with the Atocha. Only days later, Dirk and his wife Angel, with diver Rick Gage, were killed when one of the salvage boats capsized.

At that point, investors and workers were much easier to find. There are numerous other sources for this information. Komowkwa (talk) 15:12, 25 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Agree. The State of Florida vs Mel Fisher disagreement was said to have been resolved in 1982, after eight years of court cases(s), started after discovery of Atoha. That would make the discovery having been made in 1974. Or is the court dating wrong? It seems the discovery of the mother load (in 1985) and the discovery of parts of the ship/load many years earlier have been mixed together.--Paracel63 (talk) 15:55, 9 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Italicized titles[edit]

When I try to do the DISPLAYTITLE template, it says there's a conflict with pre-existing code, "Nuestra Señora de Atocha", but the title isn't italicized. Is there a way to fix this? Packer1028 (talk) 21:02, 27 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Is the statement based on a reliable source?[edit]

Article claims: "After eight years of litigation, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favour of Fisher on 1 July 1992, and he was awarded rights to all found treasure from the vessel." So the lawyers got nothing? (PeacePeace (talk) 23:08, 11 July 2018 (UTC))[reply]
