“Take up to ten (10) shortcuts as parameters” Don’t think so..?[edit]

Upon testing, it turns out that this template can take more than 10 shortcuts. I don’t know what the maximum number is. Did I misunderstand something, or should the documentation be edited as necessary? -Colathewikian (talk) 06:18, 2 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I assume it's been outdated since it was turned into a module. Removed. Nardog (talk) 06:30, 2 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
For the record, my tests showed around 9 quadrillion parameters, but that was using {{shortcut|9000000000000000=WP:FOO}}. It would probably break a lot sooner if you actually put that many shortcuts... CLYDE TALK TO ME/STUFF DONE (I will not see your reply if you don't mention me) 06:56, 21 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Template reacts weirdly in help pages[edit]

At least in SqWiki. I didn't want to test it here in fear of irritating anyone.

Check an example at the bottom here.

It would be strange if that was the case only for us at SqWiki because the corresponding modules and templates are exactly the same as in here. - Klein Muçi (talk) 12:52, 15 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The problem seems to be that "N:PP", which you are passing to {{shortcut}}, is an invalid title since "n" is an interwiki prefix for Wikinews (that is sq:N:PP goes to the Albanian Wikinews rather than the Albanian Wikipedia). It has nothing to do with what namespace the page is in, except that by chance the first letter of the Albanian word for "Help" conflicts with an interwiki prefix, whereas the first letter of the English word doesn't. * Pppery * it has begun... 01:12, 16 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, wow... Talk about luck. Hmm... Can an error message be added about cases like this? Or maybe a warning in the doc subpage?
Thank you, Pppery though! I'll go with "ND" instead of "N". :P - Klein Muçi (talk) 10:01, 16 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Template-protected edit request on 27 February 2022[edit]

Please place the shortcut list div inside of the anchor list div, instead of after it. Currently, the browser (Firefox) scrolls not to the box, but about two line heights above it. In the case of MOS:DABBLUE, this makes it look like the shortcut points to the bullet item above the intended one. Paradoctor (talk) 23:43, 27 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request 11 September 2023[edit]

Description of suggested change: I'd like to suggest creating an additional anchor for the input, without the prefix (before the colon character); i.e., "{{shortcut|MOS:SECTIONCOMMENT}}" would create anchors for both "MOS:SECTIONCOMMENT" and "SECTIONCOMMENT". It'd cover a common use case, in which an anchor is manually defined before the shortcut: {{Anchor|1=SECTIONCOMMENT}} {{short|MOS:SECTIONCOMMENT}}

Sounds reasonable. Could you make the required change to Module:Shortcut/sandbox? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 09:10, 11 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Ha, I just came here looking for guidance on exactly this use case. Sounds like a good change to me. — Will • B[talk] 18:53, 17 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
