Salve, Mark Foskey!
I noticed you recreated the article at Webster's Third New International Dictionary. Last year when I wrote the Webster's Dictionary article, there was a stub for Third and I believe the Second editions. I merged them into the Webster's Dictionary article. There was some discussion about these moves at the time and you probably were not aware of them. Unless major expansion is planned to the Webster's Third article, it is my intention to consolidate this material once again with the main article and put a redirect on that page. Ave! Four Great Inventions of ancient China[edit]

Hi, I just noticed you edits on Four Great Inventions of ancient China. I thought you should know, it was Needham who first listed these inventions as the 'Four great inventions'. Although the Chinese are very fond of making lists like this, eg. four great beauties, 4 virtues, etc .. This concept of Four Great Inventions did not exist before Needham. If anything, the page on Four Great Inventions of ancient China understates Needham's role in creating the term. lk (talk) 07:33, 24 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the correction. The article really needs to have a history of the concept of the "four great inventions". As I have left it, it's apparently flatly misleading, but as it was before it was simply confusing, I think. Maybe I should revert my changes, but I'm not sure. If you think it's better as it was, I won't complain.
Yes definitely, However, this is not my area of expertise. I remember reading some newspapaer articles about this some time ago, unfortunately I don't have the sources. lk (talk) 02:39, 25 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've found some stuff about the origins of the term. Also added some other new stuff to the page, drop by and have a look. thanks lk (talk) 07:02, 25 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
