I added a definition for computer rack — J3ff 00:46, 20 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Please stop deleting my definition for "rack." There's no reason to delete it.--WatchHawk 18:42, 28 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actually there is a reason to delete it, and that's what I invited you to respond to and why multiple different users have deleted your addition. This page is a disambiguation page for the term rack, not a list of possible definitions of the word. Disambiguation is defined in Wikipedia as "the process of resolving ambiguity—the conflict that occurs when a term is closely associated with two or more different topics. In many cases, this word or phrase is the "natural" title of more than one article. In other words, disambiguations are paths leading to different topics that share the same term or a similar term." The point is to resolve possible pages which may come into conflict because the term's usage (rack) may be unclear. Since there is currently no possible article on your slang use of the word rack nor is it a common usage, what disambiguation purpose is served by its inclusion here? As has been stated in all of the deletion edit summaries, Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a dictionary of slang. Fuhghettaboutit 19:10, 28 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Apperently you haven't been around Wikipedia very much, there are definitions for slang words and terms all over Wikipedia. Thus, my definition for the slang meaning of "rack" should be allowed. I will continue to put it. --WatchHawk 00:23, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Now that is an example of cogent, unassailable reasoning. Well done. Fuhghettaboutit 04:58, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • That other editors have made the same error of thinking that Wikipedia is a dictionary of slang is no reason to perpetuate that error. The dictionary is over there if you wish to contribute to it. Uncle G 22:01, 30 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies, I don't have the programming background to be able to add a link to your page(s) on horse gaits. My understanding is that, while there are some horses that perform this gait naturally, many (if not most?) have to be trained to do it. I am referring to the gait which gives Tennessee Walking horses their distinctive appearance, and contributes significantly to its name. Apologies, once again. I have figured out how to add a link to existing wiki-pages. I hope there will be no problems with this edition / addition. EnglishHornDudeEnglishHornDude (talk) 05:29, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
