D&D[edit]

I heard that this was a non-kinetic method of denying communication, taking down a network or taking out electricity for a local?

A story by Arthur C. Clarke[edit]

There is a short (and quite funny) story by Arthur C. Clarke, "Silence Please", about a silence device, and seems to me it fits within the scope of this article. What do you think about this?

One of the White Hart tales, right? It anticipated the idea of Noise-cancelling headphones, but claimed to apply noise-cancellation over a wide area, which I think is quite impossible. And it wasn't really a "cone"... Churchh 04:02, 1 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
What I have is another compilation of different authors traslated to spanish, but you're probably right. And if it really is a "cone" or not...haven't really checked. But you get the idea.

radar technology?[edit]

The casual mention that the term originates from radar technology needs sourcing, since it contradicts an assertion earlier that the term is from Science Fiction Theater. Theinfo 13:58, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Canadian Embassy[edit]

Should there be something on this page about the Canadian Embassy in Washington DC, which has an actual cone of silence (sort of; it's an ellipse which naturally modulates the sound)? It's frequently referred to as such although it has no connection to the "Get Smart" Cone of Silence.

Prop location?[edit]

The Angry Dome[edit]

In the episode of futurama "Kif gets knocked up a knotch" The professor gets mad at Amy and says "If anyone needs me, I'll be in the angry dome." which you can later see in the next scene. band[edit]

I'm fairly sure there was a musical group called Cone of Silence in the late 80s or early 90s. They played in Los Angeles at least once but I don't know whether they were an LA band. Has anyone heard of them? Dune[edit]

I do indeed remember the Cone of Silence. And you've done an impressive job, fellow WP eds, assembling every conceivable bit of detail and conjecture about it. Not "every conceivable bit". In 2015 I mentioned that it was invented the Dr Cohen, and is actually the cohen of silence. (This is a typical Mel Brooks joke.)
