San Frediano

I heard a story from a learned man near Lucca that Frediano was made a saint because he was a Friesian (Frediano, locally) engineer who changed the course of the river locally, which was clearly a miracle in the eyes of the church.Treethinker (talk) 04:21, 13 July 2012 (UTC)

Layout problem

The box containing details about the Comune of Lucca overlays the contents box. This should be fixed urgently, best done by someone who is experienced in page layout. Itsmejudith 08:02, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

I had a go at sorting the layout. I put the infobox right at the top of the page - this is how it is for Pisa, for example. To my view it is better but could still be improved. Itsmejudith 20:59, 22 June 2006 (UTC)

Introduction

It is inaccurate to say that the walls are "medieval." The existent wall system was constructed later, during the 16th and 17th centuries, and only includes fragments from the medieval period. "Renaissance-era" is more accurate. Changed. --Giacomo57 06:46, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

Legalized fascism and racism in the restaurant business

News is coming out that Lucca has banned certain kinds of food because they are not Italian. It is not clear whether Milan has also done this:

"The drive to make Italians eat Italian, which was described by the Left and leading chefs as gastronomic racism, began in the town of Lucca this week, where the council banned any new ethnic food outlets from opening within the ancient city walls.

Yesterday it spread to Lombardy and its regional capital, Milan, which is also run by the centre Right. The antiimmigrant Northern League party brought in the restrictions “to protect local specialities from the growing popularity of ethnic cuisines”.

Disambiguation page for Lucca

I think there needs to be a disambiguation page for Lucca. Other Luccas are starting to pile up, but I'm not sure how to create a disambiguation page. Can someone else with more experience than me fix it? SoCalBrat (talk) 17:40, 7 April 2016 (UTC)

I don't think it's necessary. There are other Luccas, but they're covered by the see also at the top of this article's page which remains the most likely appropriate destination for this search term. Mcewan (talk) 22:00, 7 April 2016 (UTC)
