Current requests for increase in protection level[edit]
Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: High level of IP Disruptive unsourced edits. It comes from a IP range that's already partially blocked.
Asking for a temporary semi-protection. It should be enough. Also take a look at that IP range as they are vandalizing quite a few Wikipedia articles.

Current requests for reduction in protection level[edit]
Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.
january 20[edit]
The article is simultaneously semi-protected as well as pending protected, both with indefinite deadlines. I thought there should be only one type of edit-protection, if not one indefinite and the other time-based like the page kate Ryan.102.159.242.79 (talk) 20:43, 17 May 2024 (UTC)
- Automated comment: One or more pages in this request appear to already be protected. Please confirm.—cyberbot ITalk to my owner:Online 20:43, 17 May 2024 (UTC)
- Regarding Kate Ryan, I have removed the semi-protection as that was what was intended.@Deb: Would you be open to removing the semi-protection here and seeing how it fares under pending-changes? It has been five-and-a-half years since your protection. Sdrqaz (talk) 02:58, 18 May 2024 (UTC)
Current requests for edits to a protected page[edit]
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here
Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
Israel–Hamas war[edit]
Change "Since the start of the Israeli operation, more than 35,000 Palestinians in Gaza have been killed,[86] including over 15,000 children and 10,000 women.[87][88]" to "Since the start of the Israeli operation, nearly 35,000 Palestinians in Gaza have been killed,[86] including over 7,000 children and nearly 5,000 women.[87][88]." This is based on the data recently revised by the UN, accessible here: https://www.ochaopt.org/content/hostilities-gaza-strip-and-israel-reported-impact-day-215. ConDissenter (talk) 21:21, 14 May 2024 (UTC)
- Is there another place to request this change? The talk page for Israel-Hamas war is restricted as well. The current source for casualty data is palinfo.com, which describes itself by saying it "does not lay any claim to neutrality for it blatantly sides with the oppressed Palestinian people." https://english.palinfo.com/about-us/. Recognizing that reliable sources do not need to have a neutral POV, why should we use this as a source rather than a less biased source like the United Nations? ConDissenter (talk) 18:28, 16 May 2024 (UTC)
- @ConDissenter Please go check Talk:Israel–Hamas war for earlier discussions and to see why your request is unlikely to succeed. FYI, the lower numbers refer not to the killed overall but to the killed who have additionally been identified by name. Besides, all the numbers are sourced to Gaza MoH anyway. — kashmīrī TALK 09:45, 17 May 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for the reply, Kashmiri. I recognize the data is all coming from the same place. (I've tried to access but can't find a reliable site for the Gaza Health Ministry to find the data directly, so I assume the UN is accurately presenting the data.) I agree it hasn't changed the total number killed which is why I didn't suggest a change to that -- beyond fixing the "more than" to "nearly" 35,000. But I don't see any basis for keeping outdated numbers on women and children. The old ratio was 72% and the new ratio was 52%. The talk page suggests we need to wait for more RS, but at this point there are plenty:
- https://www.npr.org/2024/05/15/1251265727/un-gaza-death-toll-women-children
- https://www.cnn.com/2024/05/13/middleeast/death-toll-gaza-fatalities-un-intl-latam/index.html
- https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/gaza-women-children-death-toll-1.7203167
- Is there any way to flag this for the editors of that page, even on the Talk page? ConDissenter (talk) 23:40, 17 May 2024 (UTC)
- @ConDissenter Please go check Talk:Israel–Hamas war for earlier discussions and to see why your request is unlikely to succeed. Autopatrolled[edit]User:Princess of Ara[edit]
I recently noticed this user, Princess of Ara. An editor who works mainly on Nigerian related articles and others. While trying to appreciate the user's effort, I got in love with the lovely articles, well sources, written from a volunteer in good faith and now, I am requesting that she be granted the auto patrol user right. It'll also help reduce heavy backlog of NPP. Thanks for your consideration! Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 08:05, 30 April 2024 (UTC)
User:Prince of Erebor[edit]
I have created 79 articles, primarily focused on Sinophone cinema and fantasy literature, with 2 currently undergoing GAN. All of my articles have been promptly reviewed, and none of them have been deleted or marked for maintenance. I am requesting autopatrolled rights to alleviate the workload of the patrollers, especially those who actively review film articles and have reviewed the majority of my articles, allowing them to allocate more time to address articles that truly require attention. As a side note, I am a veteran editor with patroller rights on Chinese Wikipedia, having authored over 200 articles, including a dozen featured and good articles. While I fully understand that there are differences in policies and MOS across different Wikipedias, I believe this demonstrates my credibility and knowledge in assessing article quality.— Prince of Erebor(The Book of Mazarbul) 13:18, 1 May 2024 (UTC) User:SheriffIsInTown[edit]
I frequently create articles on notable subjects, having authored 530 articles, with the majority facing no issues. Only three were deleted, mainly due to changes in election results affecting their notability. I'm requesting autopatroller rights to ease the burden on other editors reviewing my articles and help reduce the backlog of new article reviews. According to what I've read, after 221 edits and an account that's 3 months old, I should have already been autoconfirmed. I believe that it's possible that I actually was autoconfirmed before, but that it disappeared after my account name change (it had been requested of me that I change my account name because I was told that it sounded like a company name). New page reviewer[edit]User:Florificapis[edit]
I got busy in real life for most of March and April, so my request was put on hold per [4]. Here is my original reason for requesting NPR permissions again. I have over 120 new articles under my belt, mostly relating to medieval history, monasteries, saints, and geographical features. I am familiar with the kinds of content that would fall under CSD criteria, since I have experience wikifying new pages and tagging obviously problematic new pages for speedy deletion. I know the guidelines on notability, proper sourcing, draftifying new articles, rating talk pages using scripts, AfC, AfD, and other essential patrolling tasks. Would be quite happy to reduce the backlog while being cautious and careful. Also currently a Pending Changes Reviewer. Florificapis (talk) 00:09, 1 May 2024 (UTC)

I would like to participate in the NPP backlog drive.
User:TarnishedPath[edit]
I participated in the December backlog drive, being granted a trial. At the end of the trial I requested permanent NPP, which was denied with the denying admin expressing concern that I hadn't created any articles. I've since created an article about Neeraj Gupta (refer to User_talk:TarnishedPath/Archive_2#Your_submission_at_Articles_for_creation:_Neeraj_Gupta_(sculptor)_has_been_accepted) and been responsible for the bulk of the material in the newly created article Bruce Lehrmann. I had been working on Draft:Bruce Lehrmann but someone else started work on Bruce Lehrmann just as I submitted Draft:Bruce Lehrmann to AfC so I ended up merging my work over to the mainspace article and issuing a CSD for deletion of the draft. I've continued to be semi-regularly involved with AfD. I'm applying because I got a notification a while ago that there was a backlog drive for May and I'm willing to help out a bit with that. User:Trainsskyscrapers[edit]
Hello. I was initially given a month long trial as a new page reviewer after receiving an invitation on my user page, and I've been enjoying everything so far: reviewing pages, providing feedback, sending WikiLove to new and returning users who have made exceptional first attempts, tagging issues, and resolving issues myself (that could otherwise be tagged) when I have time in an attempt to reduce the backlog. I have already been renewed once, and my second trial expires in a little over two weeks (May 26th). I'm requesting either an indefinite or longer-term ability to review new pages before my time lapses. Haven't had any behavioral issues, and I try to treat all users with respect. I was turned down last July 2023 as being too early. I have since increased my article (incl. BLP) creation, and have done major overhaul and expansions of important topic articles here. I remain autopatrolled on Wikipedia and WikiCommons, continue to participate in AfD, and have done some PRODS. Am willing to learn the NPP process. Thank you. Hello. I had the new page reviewer permission but for some reason it was taken away without any explanation. I would like to apply for it again or at least get the reasoning for the removal of my permission Rahammz (talk) 01:43, 13 May 2024 (UTC)

I noticed there is a backlog at Wikipedia:New pages patrol, so I'd be happy to help! The Sharpest Lives (contribs) 16:49, 14 May 2024 (UTC) User:Pbritti[edit]
Hi! I was granted a one month trial with the NPP right and feel as though I did a decent job. I mainly focused on marking obviously acceptable articles. I didn't do a ton of reviewing, but I then again I felt like doing more than a handful a day would have been overstepping the constraints of a trial permission. If it is ok with the coordinating admins, I'd like to keep using the NPP right; feel welcome to simply renew the trial period for another month if you need more indication that I'll stick to procedure. ~ Pbritti (talk) 13:29, 15 May 2024 (UTC)

Page mover[edit]
User:ToadetteEdit[edit]
Reason for requesting page mover rights: multiple reasons including to swap pages (as a result of RM discussions) and suppress redirects, especially R2 eligible. I understood that I won't abuse this privileged right and read the instructions. ToadetteEdit! 15:41, 12 May 2024 (UTC) User:SafariScribe[edit]
Hi, I request to volunteer in moving pages with the extended right. I usually draftify pages and instead if automatically deleting them, it is being marked for CSD, another increase to the backlog. Following my involvement with early page moving, I was advised to get the page mover right by Liz, and now, I also saw it can be granted at the discretion of the admin. Also, while moving pages, I at times submit technical request if a closed move request—something I can do with page mover right. This is a volunteer work I have decided to take and thanks for you consideration. I also promise not to misuse the right Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 19:34, 15 May 2024 (UTC)

Re-requesting after my one-month trial expired a month ago. I rename pages when it's necessary to make a round-robin swap, draftify new articles, and periodically close RMs. I also sometimes help in renaming categories for CfD. Cremastra (talk) 20:20, 15 May 2024 (UTC) User:TornadoLGS[edit]

I have been editing for around 2.5 years now, with specialised focus on field of entertainment. I also often correct typos or do general fixes on articles of various subjects. I have a good knowledge of wikipedia policies and would like to get this pending changes reviewer rights to broaden by experience and get more expertise of Wikipedia. I have read all the articles and tips for reviewing pending edits. I also have a large, significant history of editing many Engkish and Korean articles about Academics, Music theory, etc. AnAlpineSymphony (talk) 05:17, 14 May 2024 (UTC) User:BerryForPerpetuity[edit]
Reason for requesting pending changes reviewer rights: I commonly do anti-vandalism work with recent changes patrolling, and I have familiarized myself with the criteria. BerryForPerpetuity (talk) 13:06, 14 May 2024 (UTC) User:AlphaBetaGamma[edit]
I've done reverting vandalism (Although I was on a hiatus since Golden Week as the vandal level hit 5) for some months now, with my edits growing over 2000 from 89ish including other works, and I request this permission to help with the works. I understand that I did make a misunderstandment couple of weeks ago and I have revised the guidelines to prevent another instance of that happening. (I've been making sure not to miss placing a uw as well). Not planning to request rollbacker until I stop making accidents. I have made some very high quality articles (Aston Martin DB9 FA and Aston Martin Rapide at FAC) so I am very familiar with what content is reliable and what is not. I have reverted vandalism (in fact, reverting vandalism was the first edit I made) and whenever i seen vandalism, I take extreme pride in reverting it. Best 750h+ 13:28, 17 May 2024 (UTC)

I've been editing Wikipedia since 2004 and have been mainly working on articles about New Zealand, musical instruments, and wine. I've helped build several articles up to GA (cimbasso, serpent, contrabass trombone, soprano trombone) and reviewed several others. It would be good to be able to approve pending useful contributions to protected articles; the current article that prompted this request is the trombone article, which I'd also like to work on. "Do you want to take a survey?"[edit]
On Feb. 12, 2005, I did a random pages survey. Out of 100 random pages, only 1 was a U.S. town. That's progress. Three towns in the UK, 1 in Spain and 1 in Portugal also turned up. Overall biographies were the largest category at 22%, followed by geography with 15% total. Then Lists at 7%, Disambiguation pages at 6%.
On Feb. 24, 2006, I repeated the 100 random page survey, this time getting 5 U.S. towns. Overall, geography had 26%, biography 21%, fiction 9%, music 4%, colleges 4%, lists 3% and disambigs 4%. Clearly geography and biography are our largest areas. Music, science and business scored less than I expected. Non-individual History was hardly discernable.
Even by Feb. 2005, 100 out of almost 500,000 was not statistically significant but was as much as I had patience for.
