I'm unsure about the English name : is it Belle Île (as in French) or Belle Isle ? The first one has more Google hits than the second, hence my move, but... _R_ 22:15, 7 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Most sources that I've seen in Acadian history call it "Belle Isle," but I suspect that's because the circumflex in "Île" is hard to type without a computer. --Michael K. Smith (talk) 21:44, 22 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Madame de pompadour links here, saying she "supported it" but neither page explains what that means.
