Hi Joseph, and welcome. I see your are adding links to Palestine and the Middle East to the top of various pages. I think it is better to have these at the bottom of the pages. I mean, it is a bit strange to go an article, e.g. Ammonites, and then right away be suggested to go a different article. What do you think? Css

Thanks, Yes I noticed that, you are right. I am trying to make the see also links, relevant, because when someone does a search, they should know to look at other topics that relate to that same subject, what do you think?

I think the bottom is ok, but some encyclopedias have "see also" lines or links at the beginning, but the end is ok too. I am easy, as long as all relevant topics are addressed.

Hello Zero, yes I am not really sure why, but my understanding is that UNRWA is the organization that registers all Palestinian refugees. At least that was what my father brought back stamped and everything. I guess the short answer is if we do not we may be somehow excluded in any final status compensation.

We have at least three legal claims (our business, our land/homes, and our right of return) as far as I can tell. Also my father had to go and take care of some legal matters relating to land in Palestine. In fact there is a place with our family name on it. As all such places have a tie in to the name of the family, i.e.: Joseph from Nazareth, etc...

Let me just say, all Palestinians carry that burning dream, that feeling of wanting to go back home. Right of return cannot be determined by any third party. It has to be, by any logic, determined by the individual person and their circumstances. Any thing less cannot counted as the inalienable right of return. Time and chance are particular to each person, if there ever was a settlement, how could you say you can go back to one and you cannot to the other?

Zero I do not know why it happened (registering with UNRWA), but that is what happened. My father also brought back our family tree, all in Arabic, and a history of our family showing we converted to Christianity in the 4th-5th century.

Random Salutation[edit]

Shalom and Salaam, I'm a student of Judaic Studies (amongst other things) and I just read your POV on Palestinian issues and I agree absolutely entirely to say the least, even after a bit of studying on the subject of Zionism gave a pretty sound logical explanation why there has to be a Jewish State (not necessarily in Palestine ie. the "Jewish Homeland")

Before my studies of Judaic Studies, I was highly pro-Arab-Palestinian--as of now, following a paper on Zionism, I am a very skeptical Political Zionist who believes that sure, as long as nationalism exists as the status quo, it should be allowed for nations to exist and be created, especially if they have a profound reason. So in this sense, I do believe that a Jewish Homeland is a great idea. However, as I researched the creation of the State of Israel, it just bugged me as wrong. Revisionist Zionism pushed the settlers to grab for more and more land in a sort of "Jordan River Manifest Destiny" and erected a solid Iron Wall in between themselves and the Arabic Palestinians. I find this to be an atrocious act, even as a fairly conservative Reform Jew. People shouldn't bicker over something that, in a religious sense, is not ours--but our deity's! My proposal is that with commonality (such as the commonality between my views and your own) we can find that the Jewish, European background of the Zionists and the Near-Eastern, Islamic background of Arab Palestinians aren't too different at all and MAKE THE NEED FOR A PURELY JEWISH STATE OBSOLETE. Then again, I am a bit biased as I am a bit of a socialist and I do not see the reason land should be quantified in value--thus, I believe the entire nation should find commonality and make national borders pretty much obsolete.

However, the last point aside--it is great that there remains a growing population of even Orthodox and Conservative who demand equality to be made an issue in their Holy Land. Keep up the Wikiediting as I keep mine up as well!

You'd be shocked at what has happened to Palestinian refugee since you said this[edit]

Back in May 2005 you wrote this: Well I have just read this article through twice, and it seems fine, I am not finding it too biased. A pleasant change, so I wanted to thank those involved, Thank You!

I think you'd be shocked at what has happened to it since .... the whole article is now dominated by claims that the number is exaggerated, that the number of Jews fleeing other ME countries is a fair swap, and they're not being allowed to settle elsewhere in the ME.

There's next to nothing on the reasons they're in refugee camps, the massacres and further displacement they've suffered since in Jordan and Lebanon, or the calamitous effect this has had on every kind of normal life. The lead of the article implies that the refugees had only been there 2 years, and the attached photograph seems calculated to stigmatise the refugees as pathetic and to blame the British for their condition..

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge!
