Not trapped in 1911[edit]

The Bakweri are not trapped in 1911, inspite of the best efforts of the Germans. Check www.bakweri.com (Bakwerirama) for a more contemporary view of the Bakweri: by themselves mostly, and not just by xenosociologists (aka anthropologists).

However most traditional practices are matrilinial related. The bakweri children follow their mother for family rituals. Marriage ties are very strict with the matrilineal than Patrilineal. A boy can get married to the fathers cousins daughter but can't do the same with the mother cousin's daughter. They consider that these matrilineal relationships are closer since they share traditional rights together.

According to Bakweri oral traditions, that they originated from Mboko, the area southwest of Mount Cameroon is better than the old version saying "Bakweri oral traditions claim that they originated...." Ephraim Inoni Jr 16:04, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
