Wikipedia is not a book of poetry. It does include articles about poets - is this a work by a professor at the Asian Institute of Technology in Thailand, of the same name? If so, the article should be about him, perhaps with the poem as an illustration of his work. If not, it should be deleted. - DavidWBrooks 14:18, 24 Dec 2003 (UTC)

I respectfully disgaree with the above statement. The origins of last names, particularly from the Asian Sub-continent are relevant indicators of a particular individual's caste.

This is a page about the last name 'Joshi'. It should not be about any particular person with the last name 'Joshi'. I think the information about Govinda Raj Joshi that has been put up is not appropriate and should be removed or made into a separate article. I do not know anything about Mr. Govinda Raj Joshi, but if someone feels that it is information of general interest then it should be made into a separate entry. A list that links to the entries for prominent 'Joshi's might be included here instead of the whole text about the person.

I have to agree that this page focus on the origins and importance of the family name "Joshi." I think a list of famous or important Joshi's is also in order (the aforementioned poet, filmmaker Abhijat Joshi, etc). The link at the bottom to a "typical Joshi's blog" is useless, though. If that Joshi is notable, he deserves his own page. If not, the link adds nothing to this discussion of the last name and should be removed. - Stephen Goldmeier, Columbus, Ohio 01:03, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
