What is CDP? And why are there two articles, very similar except for the numbers. It's not adequately explained. Well, really, it's not at all explained. The town and the CDP are in the same county. Maybe this should be all one article, and if I understood the distinction I could speculate further. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ebear422 (talkcontribs) 05:40, 7 April 2004 (UTC)[reply]

CDP = Census Designated Place. - Nunh-huh 05:47, 7 Apr 2004 (UTC)

James Key0Wallace edit[edit]

"The town was named after Peterborough, England by its founding father James Key-Wallace, 9th Duke of Wales, in 1760. The town still has many ties to the English city, including a bi-monthly correspondence in the local paper, "The Monadnock Ledger-Transcript".[citation needed]"

I removed the recently added section above which I am sure is fiction and vandalism. Although I have no connection to Peterborough, New Hampshire, I have been looking into some edits by User:Dontbothe which all concern a certain "James Key-Wallace", who I believe can be found here. Fiction for sure. Peterborough was named after Lt. Peter Prescott (1709–1784) of Concord, Massachusetts, a prominent land speculator throughout the region.[1] — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hugh Manatee (talkcontribs) 21:27, 27 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Historic Main Street Photograph[edit]

Looking at the photograph of Main Street in 1911, I wondered if it is truly a picture of Main Street. Main Street is a hill and this seems pretty flat. This picture looks more like Concord Street, possibly viewed from the Jack Daniel's inn and looking downtown toward Main Street. Any other thoughts? The title came from the eBay site where the photograph/postcard is available for auction but, alas, there is no guarantee a seller's information is accurate. Thank you for calling attention to the error which I, not a Peterboroughian, missed. The image has been replaced with another. Best to you. --Hugh Manatee (talk) 18:30, 27 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Hugh Manatee for making that change. The new postcard is certainly a picture of Main Street! I actually liked the old postcard as well. Could we put that one back up with a caption stating that it is Concord Street? It is a considerably important street in the town that is intersects with Main Street. It is the location of many of the towns churches, which must count for some historic value. Thanks again! Sirsparksalot (talk) 13:58, 26 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Publishing?[edit]

Strikes me that someone really should make some mention of what a publishing powerhouse Peterborough was: 73 Magazine, Byte Magazine, the entire IDG thing, the non-Byte Helmers Publishing properties, Cricket Magazine and its brethren... back in the 80's, there were at least four different monthlies -- AmigaWorld, Run, Byte and Cricket -- that I bought that were published out of Peterborough. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.65.224.2 (talk) 18:03, 24 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
