  • Doesn't it sound a little too U.K.-centric to have the British network be considered the primary meaning?? People complain about U.S.-centrism a lot in Wikipedia, but is U.K.-centrism complained about at all?? To whoever responds, please explain your answer in whatever detail you can (e.g. how well known is the U.K. network to Americans??) Georgia guy 21:26, 28 Mar 2005 (UTC)
See the discussion about this on Talk:Channel 4. Channel 4 is the brand name of the UK channel, and what it is known as by everyone in the UK. I know there are channels broadcasting on channel number 4 in the US, but are any of them branded or commonly known as "Channel 4"? (if there are they should be listed on this diambig page). According to what is most likely to me, it was historically common to have stations be referred to as "Channel #" but today it is somewhat more common to use phrases such as "(Network name) #" (e.g. Fox 5.) Well, how is the U.K. channel usually referred to when needing to distinguish it from 4 as a channel number of an American TV station?? (For example, New York is sometimes referred to as New York State when it is needed to distinguish it from New York City.) Georgia guy 15:44, 6 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Its never called anything other than "Channel 4" or "4", mainly because they'd never, ever need to distinguish it from a VHF channel allocation used in a different country, obviously. Kiand 18:03, 10 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Here are some TV Companies names... FOX, NBC, Canal+, Channel 4, BBC, ITV, ABC. If you look reeeally carefully you will see the reason Channel 4 has the main page. Now if you know of other TV companies that are actually called Channel 4, please tell us.
Look at their website [1] -- the British channel, as a company, is called Channel 4. --Mhking 20:13, 7 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
