Most of this entry is identical to the Pwyll entry; this is not efficient. Is this a Wikipedia Style issue? It would seem to be more reasonable to summarize the common parts, and cross-reference. DigitalMedievalist 06:17, 7 Jan 2004 (UTC) Lisa

The article is a summary of the relevant parts of the Mabinogi, should it not reference them? A source for the etymology of the name would also be better.

I can't see anything obviously wrong with the article either, I just finished reading a book about Arthur, and they told these stories in the book, it seems fine to me. Oh, and my sister's name is Rhiannon...

"Welsh Deities??"[edit]

It could be said that the only well-attested to instances of ANY known non-christian deities worshipped by the Welsh are those named in inscriptions on Romano-Celtic altars.

I would like to see some serious discussion on the merit of near universal custom of elevating to god/goddesshood virtually any of the primary characters in the stories of the Welsh corpus. Earrach 3/26/07

hey folks... this is the first time i'm entering a discussion on the wikipedia. i'm a lover of mythology and a teacher of english. not sweating the grammar. two thoughts: i like the question about elevating the status of queens to goddesses... what's it all about? pop culture? which brings me to my second thought. stevie nicks has painted portraits of her idea of rhiannon. one of those would be fabulous and appropriate here, i think... i don't know about posting rules and all that, copyright stuff, and am primarily interested everyone's thoughts on it... —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Delusiacandy (talk • contribs) 02:23, 1 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

I know I'm a little late to the game but I don't think it's appropriate. The merits of the picture itself aside, the song is not at all about the goddess. It would be more appropriate to include an ancient image of that goddess if they exist or a more contemporary image even, but one based on some kind of research, rather than Ms. Nicks impression of what she may have looked like. There is a citation of Proinsias Mac Cana but no title or year. Looking in any book/article that has 53 or more pages would be counterproductive. Modern Interpretations[edit]

Does this seem a bit POV to anyone else? It doesn't fit with the tone of a Wikipedia article at all, and I'm not sure it's even accurate to traditional depictions of Rhiannon having read some of the Mabinogion.
