Cuneiform text doesn't show[edit]

The 'text' doesn't show. It has never did. Firefox latest. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 115.70.29.185 (talk) 05:47, 11 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Untitled[edit]

I think the whole 3rd paragraph should go, as it is completely dated. --Yak 15:07, 9 Aug 2004 (UTC)

the cities name like (poor or pur ) may be originated from india

How can it originate from India, if sumeria and akkadian are older civilization.

Just. Because. Everything is originated from India. Even though S. Kramer said " Sumer is the cradle of civilisation". Must be India: proto- and Indoeuropean language. Even though it is obvious that many of the (Latin, English, French) words are from Sumerian. It can not possibly be accepted. Kramer said, it's a life and death struggle between the non-Semitic Sumerians and the Semites. Even their name - Sumer - is a (Semitic) Akkad word stuck on them by the (Semitic) prof. Oppert. They called themselves 'KU_MAH_GAR'. And today's HUN_MA_GAR is full of 'Sumeric' grammar and words. This can not possibly acknowledged under any circumstances. India is better. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 115.70.29.185 (talk) 05:45, 11 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Archaeology[edit]

The entire 1911 encyclopedia Archaeology section needs to be removed. I am going to baby step this by adding new stuff and then eventually one day blanking the 1911 stuff, which will then be reverted, an event I am hoping to avert with this note. :-) Ploversegg (talk) 21:07, 22 January 2009 (UTC)ploversegg[reply]

Pre-Sardonic Period[edit]

It would be great to have some dates for this section -- even rough ones would help (6th millemium BC; middle of the 5th millennium BC). Thanks. Athana (talk) 21:59, 13 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Could the cities name be related to the name Nibiru?[edit]

Given the Nibru element? I know all of the 10th Planet stuff is nonsense. I've read the main theory among real scholars is Nibiru was a name for Jupiter, that could fit this city's association with Enlil.--JaredMithrandir (talk) 10:13, 19 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

1911 Encyclopedia[edit]

The later two sections of the archaeology part of this article were cribbed from the 1911 Encyclopedia Britanica [1]. Plan to delete them after I ponder to see if there is anything worth saving.Ploversegg (talk) 01:00, 30 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Removed one. The rest is about the Murashu archive so will have to coord change with that article. A job for another day. And note that some of the History paras are also so cribbed.Ploversegg (talk) 15:37, 30 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Meters or metres?[edit]

Either might be acceptable, but as things stand now both are used repeatedly in this article. There should be consistency. Dgndenver (talk) 03:13, 17 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
