Old Discussion[edit]

Is this a disambiguation page? If not, the link to the business-versino of administration should be deleted, eh? Krupo 02:15, Jun 5, 2004 (UTC)

I think I agree, this page should be made into a disambiguation page and separate articles started. Normally I'd be bold and do it myself, but disambiguation is not my strong suit as an editor. Any thoughts? Ellsworth 00:50, 5 Feb 2005 (UTC)

I would agree that some type of reorganization (or disambiguation)is needed. Someone placed the section on Administrative Functions under the Business heading, but these functions are generic to administration regardless of whether a business, government organization, hospital, school, etc. I would suggest a heading on the Disambiguation page along the lines of "Administration (the Process)" to contain the general definition and the list of administrative functions 05:45 21 Aug 2005 soverman

(It would be helpful if you would get a logon name (Soverman, for instance), so that people could drop you a note off-line. For example, to say that you want to add to a discussion, it should normally go at the end.)
I moved them (if you click on the History tab, you can see who changed what, and how much) because they are very much about administrative processes rather than types of administration. I suspect that there is an additional problem in that these are from a US perspective? because on this side of the Atlantic we would call that "Management" (in addition to the other aspects of it, of course). We would also describe this aspect of running a hospital, school etc as "managing the business" of the hospital, as distinct from the medical or teaching aspect of it.
The article isn't really long enough to justify splitting it yet, in my opinion. --Concrete Cowboy 16:50, 22 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Office Administration[edit]

Maybe a new page titled Office administration is appropriate? The term business administration is not the best as government's have administration sections that do similiar tasks but are not strictly considered as Public administration. I also want to discuss Records management, Quality standards and Archive. - Shiftchange 07:58, 19 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Disambig, article per theme[edit]

This article is too long to have a variety of different concepts in one umbrella article. I am creating a new disambig article pointing to a unique separate article for each theme. --Concrete Cowboy 17:42, 8 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Done. See Administration. --Concrete Cowboy 18:01, 17 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
How about an article on Military Administration? --Dwarf Kirlston 19:40, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Clean up[edit]

Article is rambling, unstructured and uninformative. It seems to me that the best solution would be to erase it and start again, which I have no interest in doing. I've tagged it as Clean up because it is an embarassment to Wikipedia. --Concrete Cowboy 18:01, 17 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed, but something is better than nothing. GaryJericho (talk) 18:45, 28 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Fayol's 5 elements of administration[edit]

The ones listed here are different from the ones in the Fayol article. The Controlling section ought to include mention of getting feedback. 92.29.91.83 (talk) 20:39, 28 October 2009 (UTC) pile of shite[reply]

Change[edit]

Change in the article has happened recently. It seems quite signifigant. --150.216.62.60 (talk) 17:08, 2 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Management vs administration[edit]

I believe that administration and management are different things since administration includes management. So, while defining business administration as "management" of a business, we limit the scope. GaryJericho (talk) 18:45, 28 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

More info![edit]

There can be a lot more that could be added to this article. There is definitely more information about Business Administration that can be incorporated in it. Maybe even some examples of businesses could be in it as well. Maddiecortes (talk) 16:54, 2 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
