GA Nomination[edit]

Hello all! I've put Erik Sparre (1550–1600) up for my first Good Article nomination and am hoping to get it to FA after the fact. I would appreciate anyone who might be willing to complete the GA request or at least help to confirm that my Swedish sources have been translated well for any prospective GA review. Thanks! ThaesOfereode (talk) 14:33, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not confortable doing full GAN-reviews yet, but feel free to ping me if a potential reviewer wants someone to do a source review. Draken Bowser (talk) 15:03, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Draken Bowser: Thanks! Would you be willing to take a look at Janbrink 2006 before the review starts? That source contains the most amount of unique information that I wasn't able to corroborate with English-language sources. Even just a spot-check on sentences that only use that source would be a huge help to me! ThaesOfereode (talk) 15:41, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'll put it on my to-do list, might take a week or two before I can get to it. Draken Bowser (talk) 18:19, 24 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No worries, thanks for taking the time! ThaesOfereode (talk) 10:54, 25 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Looking for free to use Swedish newspaper archives to research a band[edit]

Hello, I'm currently writing an article for the Swedish jazz fusion band Hawk on Flight, so I'd need to look into their press coverage. However, none of the Swedish newspaper archives mentioned on Wikipedia allow me to look at their scans for free. Svenska Dagstidningar brings up a large number of results when I look up the band, but I can't even see the previews because they're protected by copyright. I'd like to know if they're any good sources I could use for my article that I don't know of. Staffscribbles (talk) 21:21, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

There's plenty of good newspaper sources, but you would need to apply for access here if you want to be able to read them all. Draken Bowser (talk) 22:02, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, though I'm looking for an archive where I could easily search for words. This is because I can't actually read Swedish and going through all of those sources manually while translating them with Google isn't a very good idea. Before making this account, I wrote the Wikipedia article for a Dutch band called Scope, and I got help from Dutch wikipedia editors as well as the Google Lens translator to be able to easily understand the content of the scans I used. Staffscribbles (talk) 03:28, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Mediearkivet has a function to search for words in the text. AlexandraAVX (talk) 07:15, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Staffscribbles Mediearkivet gives 237 hits when searching for Hawk on Flight, so you might find some useful sources there. The Swedish article for the band, Hawk on Flight, could sure use some proper references also. /Haxpett (talk) 09:02, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! How can I access Mediearkivet though? If it requires a certain amount of wiki edits, then I wouldn't be able to sign up because I wrote my previous article without making an account. Regarding the Swedish article for the band, it's nice to see but it seems to have been poorly referenced. Staffscribbles (talk) 18:19, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You sign up at the end of the list, and then you'll get a wikimail with username and password. The requirements in number of edits are not as strict as for the Wikipedia library. /Haxpett (talk) 21:47, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I added myself to the list. Do I just need to wait for approval now? Staffscribbles (talk) 15:38, 16 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Pretty much, but you need to have e-mail enabled in your Wikipedia-settings. Otherwise there's no way for the custodians to provide you with your Retriever-username and -password. Draken Bowser (talk) 16:51, 16 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I do have it enabled so I'll just wait. Staffscribbles (talk) 16:56, 16 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

IKEA Foundation request[edit]

Hi editors, I'm Altaf with the IKEA Foundation. I made a request to add a History section to the IKEA Foundation article but so far it has not drawn much interest, would anyone here be interested in reviewing? I have a COI so I can't make the changes myself. I'd appreciate it! AMfromIKEA (talk) 07:01, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Queen Christina copyvio?[edit]

Hi,

I was looking at the article on Christina, Queen of Sweden for potentially improving it for a GAN (I think she's pretty cool). I went to a copyvio detector and it flagged a good amount of content from a few sites, with full paragraphs in both the biography and the lead showing as directly or almost-directly copied from https://www.papalartifacts.com/portfolio-item/39041/ and https://www.vam.ac.uk/blog/creating-new-europe-1600-1800-galleries/born-on-this-day-queen-christina-of-sweden.

I'm requesting some help fixing these issues but thought I'd bring it to y'all's attention as the page is listed as High‑Importance to this project.

Kosta Boda (redlinks)[edit]

The article about Swedish glassworks Kosta Boda contains a number of redlinks that may be of interest to this wikiproject. Most of these already have corresponding articles on sv:wp, so bringing them to en:wp ought to be fairly straightforward for a Swedish speaker.
