[edit]Britain's slavish copying of the latest fads in America goes too far! But of course we don't do it a such a big way (500,000 people for 30mins rather than 50m for two days)... it is tempting to suggest the event doesn't really need an article here. Pete 11:15, 29 Aug 2003 (UTC)
- Doesn't need an article? I think it will be informative to be able to compare the two blackouts. Andy G 18:29, 29 Aug 2003 (UTC)
The power went out where I live but it only went out for more than 10 minutes - fonzy
This whole article reads like a response from the power company. So Boo Hoo the national news didn't cover your dull report. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.195.193.43 (talk) 21:49, 14 November 2009 (UTC)
I was in central London at the time, it was totally off for over an hour, tube stations were crushed full as people tried to move around. It was actually quite an event I can't say I've ever experienced something quite so wide scale - the complete shutdown of the underground and the mainline stations that couldn't function in the height of the evening rush hour was unprecedented and I think worthwhile of a wiki article.--94.195.193.43 (talk) 19:54, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
Three thousand million pound investment? Are we okay to settle for £3 Billion instead? I dunno about you, but when I walk into a shop and buy something, I don't use a two thousand penny note to buy it with. Chulk607 (talk) 23:51, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
- "Three billion pounds" is correct. Here in Britain, three billion pounds would be £3,000,000,000,000. However: in America (which has not used English for over two and half centuries), it is wrongly interpreted as £3,000,000,000. Of course: as this an article on a British subject, per WP:ENGVAR, "Three thousand million pounds" is the correct usage. 2A00:23C8:9883:A001:7884:F123:408D:B55A (talk) 12:55, 16 August 2024 (UTC)
