[edit]There was a wonderful article in the Irish Times today by Frank McDonald on Limerick that made me think this deserved a page. Feel free to help Seabhcan 11:33, 10 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- No bother! My content may need edited for NPOV. Our despicable lack of planning laws, and indeed planning, have ripped huge holes out of Limerick's architectural heritage in particular. And as regards that which remains? Well, William Street is a dump, and even O'Connell Street is an ugly mismatch of Georgian, modern and ugly buildings with fastfood signage and ugly shopfronts. The abominable lack of organised street furniture and paving doesn't help. Truly Limerick must be the scruffiest city in Ireland (no matter whether there are or aren't litter problems). zoney ♣ talk 14:29, 10 Nov 2004 (UTC)
I agree on the NPOV. Limerick has improved vastly since this article was written and indeed I feel it falls into the trap of overestimating the value of the historic fabric and underestimating (and indeed omitting to mention) the merit of some of the newer additions.
