What is the motion being described?[edit]

Which, if any, of the following claims is this article trying to make?

"...towards the midline of the body."
"...from the midline of the body."
"...towards or from the midline of the body. (i.e., depending upon species)"
"...towards and from the midline of the body. (i.e., in all species, or in the species under discussion here)"

I know nothing of physiology, so I can't answer.

wouldnt abduction and adduction be in the frontal/coronal plane?
