Talk:Famous Scotsmen

I just wanted to point out that Alexander Graham Bell's identification as a Scotsman is a bit of a vexed question. Granted, he was born in Scotland, but this was during a period when there was heavy immigration from there, and any number of children and young men grew to significance elsewhere after having been born there. Bell is one (as is the first Canadian prime minister Sir John A. Macdonald. Anyone have objections to a quick prelude on the parent page explain that we're using a fast and loose definition of the term "Scotsman"? (Come to think, thank god there's no famous Scotswomen here yet, or there'd be even more trouble). -- Paul Drye
