Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and vote pages using three tildes, like this: ~~~. Four tildes (~~~~) produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome! jni 08:37, 24 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Also, when you nominate a page for Wikipedia:Votes for deletion, you must write an entry for it under correct section of the main VfD page. I have done that for you in the case of Phonenumber, you might want to take a peek to my editing history to see how its done. Also, please read Wikipedia:Deletion policy at some time. Welcome to WP, Ben! I saw your despairing attempts to progress your attribution requests. Don't hold your breath. My request is about 6 months old and still waiting. Find one of the million more positive things to work on here while you are waiting. Robin Patterson 05:11, 17 Feb 2005 (UTC)
For an idea of why it may take some time, do some more reading of the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Changing_attribution_for_an_edit. It needs "Developers". I sympathise with them - there are much more interesting things to do. And your attributed contributions are already outstripping your anonymous ones (which you could list on your User page if you liked!)
Do I detect a UK resident lurking behind the aforementioned User page? You could add your name to one or more of the appropriate lists of Wikipedians under http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Wikipedians and maybe make new friends through http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Regional_wikipedian_notice_boards. Ha, they don't? Well, I guess I'm not surprised; I've been told before that there's some hostility there, although I didn't know there was that much. I don't know how to IRC (Ambi tried to explain it to me, but I'm a moron), but I used to use AIM; I'll see if I can set up a new account there. Everyking 22:14, 20 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Hey Ben, if you want to hear my side of the story (since I was one of the more active, ahem, "prosecutors" of Everyking, and also followed the IRC channel quite regularly), my AIM is "Tonto johnlee". Perhaps Everyking and I could hash out our issues in real time via AIM as well. This dispute is quite convoluted, really, and not to slander Everyking or anything, but considering how he's been treated, I think you may well benefit by getting another side of the story. Rider-Waite Tarot images[edit]

I am about as certain as I can be that the Rider-Waite-Smith deck of Tarot cards is public domain. It was published in 1910. Versions of the deck are available from publishers other than US Games Systems. My preference would be that Tarot articles unrelated to this deck specifically be illustrated with images from the Tarot de Marseille, myself, but I doubt that any of those scans are copyright violations. -- Smerdis of Tlön 23:26, 20 Feb 2005 (UTC)

According to the U.S> Copyright Office: "Therefore, the U. S. copyright in any work published or copyrighted prior to January 1, 1923, has expired by operation of law, and the work has permanently fallen into the public domain in the United States." Rmhermen 23:45, Feb 20, 2005 (UTC)
