Untitled[edit]

I think that zootomy is also the practice to perform dissection on living animals. This is also called vivisection. Gakrivas, 3 Feb 2004

Vivisection has its own rather extensive article that doesn't mention "zootomy" as an alternate name, could you perhaps reference this? Bryan 19:07, 19 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

animal anatomy[edit]

I have been advocating that we massively boost the amount of information Wikipedia provides on animal anatomy. It could be both interesting and informative, but right now it not anything at all; as it just doesn't exist on the site. I propose the following pages to be created:

The list could go on forever, I'm not sure whether ALL the possible articles deserve to exist, but most certainly the mammal/bird/reptile/amphibian/fish ones do, as that is what we all grown up with as the five main animal groups from early school. These article currently exist to deal with this field:
I have to admit I am no expert, I propose this in the hope that someone who is can help. What does everyone think? mastodon 15:59, 8 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Common usage?[edit]

Anyone familiar with this term? Personally, I've never heard it outside of Wikipedia. I can't find it in any of my textbooks. A search on the PubMed and BIOSIS databases pulls one result (PMID 16353245), but it's pub type is historical or biographical. A search on the EBSCO database pulls one result, which lists zootomy as the last word in "Samuel Johnson's 1755 dictionary". There's a few google hits, but many seem to be forks/mirrors of Wikipedia. Anyone actually a zootomist out there, or works for a zootomy department? I'm thinking this term has been obsoleted. Should this redirect to anatomy instead? jag123 16:48, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
