What's the point? Anyone can change the password. -Eloquence 10:29 Feb 3, 2003 (UTC)

Well, so? Immediately afterwards, anyone can create a new account named MyPasswordIsYellow. Besides, wouldn't changing the password on this account (in obvious defiance of the intent of the account) be vandalism of some sort?
Yes, but I don't think it does us any good to fill the user database with bogus accounts. Anyone can edit anonymously, creating an account requires three clicks and no email address, and because of the changeable password, a consistent shared user history cannot build up. You may consider changing the password vandalism, but not even sysops can fix it -- only people with admin rights, who have better things to do. If you really want that feature, please subscribe to the wikitech mailing list, and provide a rationale, then we can create an open account with an unchangeable password. --Eloquence 10:44 Feb 3, 2003 (UTC)
I guess I have too much time on my hands. I changed Hello's password. -- Uncle Ed
