Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Hector the Hero

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
  • Anon posting, non-notable local band. Only two Google hits; the rest are about a song of the same name. Same user posted Jump, Little Children which is an unwikified mess I've listed for cleanup. That one seems to have a few more hits but I'm unsure of their notability. - Lucky 6.9 02:13, 15 Jun 2004 (UTC)
  • Note: Jump, Little Children is a well-known band, especially among college students. Their most recent album reached #45 on the Billboard Independent Charts. According to Wikipedia guidelines, obscurity does not mark an entry for deletion. --Judithavory 02:23, 15 Jun 2004 (UTC)
This is your only edit. How odd... Cody The Blue Bomber 02:28, 15 Jun 2004 (UTC)

I'm a new user. I did, however, read the guidelines for Wikipedia and I don't see any problems with a listing for a band that isn't very well-known. I thought the point of an encyclopedia was to inform...--Judithavory 03:45, 15 Jun 2004 (UTC)

  • The way the article is written leads one to believe that it is sheer vanity. If the article is cleaned up, I'd vote to keep but right now I vote to delete.
    • I found a hyperactive teenage girl's blog that seems to "verify" that JLC is real, and did reach #45 (the blog actually said #44) on the Independent Charts.
    • This entry in question, though, is almost pointless the way it is. I still say delete. TheCustomOfLife 02:26, 15 Jun 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete: It's great to be interested in a band, but it seems to me that music sites already catalog unsigned and minor bands, and the nature of unsigned bands is that they're terrifically transitory. Jump, Little Children was popular, but side projects of members of it probably don't pass a threshold. Getting an entry in AllMusic is possibly the Google-test for music, but listing every band is AMG's purpose. Is Wikipedia the set-of-all-sets? Geogre 10:49, 15 Jun 2004 (UTC)
  • Hector the Hero should prolly be deleted. On the other hand, JLC is reasonably well known, recieved national airplay, and heck, Cathedrals is a great song. I'll work on cleaning it up. Lyellin 10:45, Jun 16, 2004 (UTC)
  • Remove content on band, and replace it with content on the famous classic lament of the same name. Ambivalenthysteria 09:11, 17 Jun 2004 (UTC)
  • Great idea. And "Jump, Little Children" now looks downright fantastic. - Lucky 6.9 18:53, 17 Jun 2004 (UTC)
    • I've changed this into a stub on the lament. How about keeping this now? Ambivalenthysteria 14:00, 19 Jun 2004 (UTC)
  • Keep reformed version. Acegikmo1 17:06, Jun 20, 2004 (UTC)
