Image of TicTacs[edit]

For your information, just because an image is on Google, it does not necessarily mean that it is public domain. Many images on the web are copyrighted. Zzyzx11 21:20, 2 Apr 2005 (UTC)

I have moved your Sandbox to your user space here. Thanks. Danny 23:23, 2 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Please stop removing content from Wikipedia; it is considered vandalism. If you want to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. SlimVirgin (talk) 23:54, Apr 2, 2005 (UTC)

Sandboxes[edit]

If you want to create another sandbox you can do it in your own userspace. For example: User:Flarn2006/Sandbox. That way the namespace for articles doesn't get filled with people's sandboxes. Mgm|(talk) 14:33, Apr 3, 2005 (UTC)

I want it to be where if you search for "Sandbox 2", it shows my sandbox! I don't want to need to search for "User:flarn2005/sandbox"! How can I make it like that for all users?
One thing, never rush things :) Why do you want people to find specifically your sandbox? It may be a better idea to get your changes implemented in the main sandbox by reaching an agreement with other Wikipedia users. To make it easy to find your sandbox you should link to it appropriately from other pages so people can find it. Also, it really should be in the Wikipedia: namespace like all these kinds of pages. Mgm|(talk) 14:48, Apr 3, 2005 (UTC)

Hi. Thanks for your note. The main user space is only for articles. Discussions take place in Wikipedia:XXX and personal materials in User namespace areas. Thanks for cooperating. Danny 15:03, 3 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Also, you shouldn't have the need to create a new namespace - you can create additional pages under your own user page to store article drafts, to-do lists or whatever you want. Solver 16:10, 3 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Profanity[edit]

I reverted your change at Wikipedia:Profanity because that page does not say to never use profanity. It specifically says "there is no need to 'mask'" the word f**k.

If I do not like cursing on any of those pages, ESPECIALLY do not curse on my own discussion page! Notice that I have changed it. Please do not think of it as a discussion page! (lol)

(Edit 2021-09-23: I posted the above comment when I was still a kid, and I think I was afraid my parents would see it and overreact or something. Or maybe I read too much into what my parents told me back then and actually was offended by it, before I learned better. Either way, this is, like, the exact opposite attitude I have about it today. XD)

Do not blank pages[edit]

Please do not blank pages, or replace detailed pages with a single sentence. And do not make personal attacks in Wikipedia pages. This is considered vandalism, especially when the page is a high-profile one like Wikipedia. You can be banned from Wikipedia for doing things like that. FreplySpang (talk) 21:47, 3 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Template:Createdby[edit]

Template:Createdby, which you created, has been nominated for deletion at Templates for deletion. BlankVerse 16:13, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)

I added a {{nonsense}} notice to this template, which you created. If you feel that it ought to be kept, please explain why to me on my user talk page, or on the talk page for the template in question. jglc | t | c 17:12, 3 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • I have also noticed your edits on the pages World War I and Wikipedia:Cite Sources. The addition of such excess material makes the pages difficult to read, and will generally just be reverted by another editor. Please consider this and try to avoid making changes that you know are spurious and in violation of general Wikipedia policy. Further vandalism may result in disciplinary action against you. jglc | t | c 17:16, 3 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
    • Your edits that other editors and I have considered as vandalism are the blanking of material previously on user pages and user talk pages (which are pretty much the only sacred ground in Wikipedia, otherwise you can Be Bold), and the addition of superfluous material to certain pages, World War I among them. I do not, actually, think that your joke was that funny, though I could see how some might :). Unfortunately, the material is entirely your own idea and conception of amusement, and Wikipedia isn't an amusement park - it's an encyclopedia, even though it might not always seem so. Therefore, while your contributions are appreciated, please limit them to content that would reasonably be found in, say, Encyclopedia Britannica. jglc | t | c 03:58, 7 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

A warning[edit]

Look: I do not care if you are a child or not. If you are going to edit here on Wikipedia, please read Wikipedia:Tutorial and follow our rules.

You are smart, right? Everytime you go somewhere or do something, there are rules you have to follow, or else you will get punished. So I am going to tell right now: if you keep on breaking our rules and adding nonsense to Wikipedia's articles and pages, we may have no choice but to block you from editing. If you need help, please feel free to leave a message on my talk page. Thanks. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 04:03, 7 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • I thought you were smart. Did you notice that Special:Contributions/Flarn2005 lists every edit you have ever done? So please do not cry out "There must be some mistake!" (However, if someone else really is using your password and account, then it should be blocked anyway for security reasons.) Zzyzx11 (Talk) 04:34, 7 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Also, please DO NOT move or censor pages for no other reason than that they contain a word you don't like. It just doesn't work that way. What's next? You going to Austria with a paintbrush and repainting signs to say F***ing? -BodyTag 08:26, 30 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Continuing vandalism[edit]

Flarn2005, you've made some sensible contributions to the encyclopedia; please do not create nonsense articles, create nonsense templates, or make silly edits. An admin may block you. - choster 00:27, 6 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

About keystroke logging[edit]

About your post in keystroke logging last 08/07/2005, no, it doesn't immediately install anything on your computer, unless your security settings are set at the lowest and you allow programs to execute instantly without asking. It's also not a drive-by download, since it links directly to a download page where you have to click on a link again to proceed.

And looking at all the comments above, it seems you've got quite a history of vandalism.

Re:Sig[edit]

go to your preferences and change you "Nickname" (check the "Raw signatures (without automatic link; do not use templates for this)" box) then type in whatever you want in there. Sasquatcht|c 02:08, 13 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Personal templates whether used as an example or not, are best kept in one's own userspace. You can use User:Flarn2006/Template in exactly the same manner as Template:Flarn2005. All you need to do is type, {{User:Flarn2006/Template}} instead of {{Flarn2005}}. - Mgm|(talk) 11:59, 13 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

RfA[edit]

You're welcome to nominate yourself for adminship. Please follow the directions at Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/nominate before adding your RfA subpage to the main RfA page. Be careful, because a lot of RfA regulars usually oppose self-nominations that are not formatted properly. --TantalumTelluride 20:02, 28 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Flarn. I'd recommend that you remove your Support vote from your RfA. Many users view that as a faux pas and evidence of a lack of Wikipedia experience. If your RfA is going to pass, your self-vote isn't going to make the difference. Just some friendly advice! —Cleared as filed. 22:05, 28 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Also, I would urge you to withdraw your nom. Very, very few editors with fewer than 500 edits get sysopped. Unless you just want the constructive criticism, I would recommend withdrawing it. Cheers, my friend. --LV (Dark Mark) 22:07, 28 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Um, yes. Also, your recent vandalism, and the attempts to hide vandalism warnings, basically guarantee that your request will not pass. FreplySpang (talk) 22:11, 28 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I see you have withdrawn. Just keep up the good work, keep down the bad, and I'm sure in good time you can make Admin yet. Cheers. --LV (Dark Mark) 22:15, 28 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Don't be discouraged. If you continue to make constructive contributions, you will stand a better chance at RfA in a few months. Several former vandals have been promoted in the past, and there's no reason that you can't one day become a great admin. --TantalumTelluride 22:42, 28 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Featured Article Template[edit]

I guess it's OK to have the FA template at the top of this page (since it's in your user space), but I've substituted the template and modified it so that your user page won't be added to Category:Wikipedia featured articles. --TantalumTelluride 22:49, 28 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Suggested compromise[edit]

Actually, Jimbo Wales is in charge. And if you violate the Three revert rule, you can be blocked. May I offer a compromise? How do you like this box:

Featured article star This user would like to be a featured user, which means he would like to be identified as one of the best users produced by the Wikipedia community. If you see a way this user can be updated or improved without compromising previous work, please feel free to suggest how on the talk page.

--TantalumTelluride 04:12, 29 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about that. I just wish everyone would try to cooperate with one another. Edit warring over trivial user page features does not contribute to our ultimate goal of creating a respectable free-content encyclopedia. Before you click the "Save page" button, "be completely convinced that what you are saving will make Wikipedia a better, more friendly, and more sucessful project, and if what you've typed won't do that, don't click save."1 --TantalumTelluride 04:47, 29 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

"Adult content" template[edit]

Flarn, is there some sort of consensus that this template should be added to articles? Joyous | Talk 16:17, 2 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Flarn, Wikipedia is not censored. Wikipedia may contain content you find objectionable. That's the way it is. Filtering or censorship has often been suggested, but you are welcome to bring it up at the Village pump again, if you wish. Because this is policy, you should have the policy changed before you actually implement changes like this again. cheers, pfctdayelise 14:13, 3 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Move template[edit]

The move template should only go on talk pages. It was incorrectly used on /Sandbox. (I am really a very nice person, and I apologise if I seem a little uptight - it's been a long day.) haz (user talk) 20:03, 20 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Article moves[edit]

"Humour" (and "colour", "rumour", etc.) are perfectly correct spellings in British English and the English of many other countries. Wikipedia does not use only US spellings. Please don't "correct" British spellings and usage in the future. The detailed rules for when British, American or other spellings are preferred is Wikipedia:Manual of Style#National varieties of English. Since you don't seem to be familiar with British spellings, here's a suggestion: when you see an article title that looks "misspelled" to you, but the article has been around for a while, it's probably okay. Don't move it. Mention the "misspelling" on the talk page if you like, but don't move it. FreplySpang (talk) 23:15, 20 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

IE Virus Install?[edit]

Hi, I was just reading your post on the Keylogger page, and I would like to write your answer. No, clicking on a link will not cause you to get a virus. What will cause you to get viruses are things that automatically begin downloading files onto your computer. Every time you visit a page in any web browser, the browser has to get all the files on the given *.html page from a file server and put them on your computer. You may notice that once you've been to a page in IE, it takes less time to go there the next time you try. This is because IE keeps all that information in a set of temporary folders, which get deleted, unless the downloaded files go somewhere else other than the temporary folders and stay on your computer when you do a disk clean-up that clans up temporary IE files. Also Flash and Java, two popular website enhancement tools, must download files to your computer and these are more prone to going elseware than the IE downloads becaues virus creators can more or less tell them where to put the files they store. Anytime you try to go to a webpage, you can in one way or another, get a virus, if that webpage downloads the malware onto your computer. Since IE has been around for a while, many MANY virus creators have found ways to put this malware on your computer without you noticing. Browsers such as Mozilla Firefox have more security measures, if you require them, but if you websurf safe and don't click on ads, you should be fine. --CherryT 08:23, 21 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Userbox Controversy[edit]

Sir, I regret you inform you that userboxes will most likely be nonexistent in a number of days, to weeks, or even months when considering the voluminous amount of the aforementioned. Rob McKay has informed me, and his user page details the erasing of userboxes by extreme admins, and it seems they are winning. This is also evidence of the rapid deleting of templates and userboxes. Please take a look at the Deletion log to see. Individual admins are also doing their share of damage to userboxes. Kelly Martin deletes many (and a lot of the templates she deletes are often reviewed, and reinserted into the namespace), as well as Mushroom. Please inform others, show your support for userboxes, and take individual codes from any userboxes you may have and replace your template userboxes with them, so as to prevent any other admins from attempting to delete them. There may in fact be a cabal. Thanks. Эйрон Кинни 17:28, 18 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Could you please explain this edit? User:Zoe|(talk) 22:12, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:User pages to be deleted[edit]

I have nominated this page for deletion along with the associated template, category and shortcut. They are unnecessary. Welcome to Esperanza![edit]

Welcome, Flarn2005, to Esperanza! As you might know, all the Esperanzians share one important goal: the success of this encyclopedia. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. All of our ideals are held in the Charter, the governing document of the association.

Now that you are a member you should read the guide to what to do now or you may be interested in some of our programs. A quite important program is Stressbusters, which seeks to support editors who have encountered any stress from their Wikipedia events, and are seeking to leave the project. So far, Esperanza can be credited with the support and retention of several users. We will send you newsletters to keep you up to date. Also, we have a calendar of special events, member birthdays, and other holidays that you can add to and follow.

In addition to these projects, several more missions of Esperanza are in development, and are currently being created at Esperanza/Proposals.

If you have any other questions, concerns, comments, or general ideas, Esperanzian or otherwise, know that you can always contact Natalya by email or talk page. Consider introducing yourself at the Esperanza talk page! Alternatively, you could communicate with fellow users via our IRC channel, #wikipedia-esperanza (which is also good for a fun chat or two :). If you're new to IRC, you may find help at an IRC tutorial. I thank you for joining Esperanza, and look forward to working with you in making Wikipedia a better place to work!

Userpage...[edit]

Yes, I like my userpage very much and it took ages to get it to work properly. You can copy it if you want. I gave credit where it was due, so you know who originally made all the bits and pieces of my userpages. I'd be happy to lend a hand if you need it. - Mgm|(talk) 16:51, 22 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi Flarn, I saw your redesign request and since you liked my layout, I decided to take the job myself. I've made a rough start at User:Flarn2006/New design (I will move it to your userpage and put an archive in place as soon as it is finished to your taste). Is there any sections or links you use often which I should give a prominent place on the page? With this rough draft up, you can start filling the sections on articles you want to edit and the "Recent edits" section. If you use Firefox to watch the page, the corners will be rounded. - Mgm|(talk) 20:45, 22 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • I've also given your header a touch up to include the time an date. The links that used to be here are now in a menu on your userpage. If you decide to keep it, I will make sure your previous design includes the old header when I archive it. It's bed time around here, so I will finish the job tomorrow. - Mgm|(talk) 21:08, 22 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • I see you had User:Flarn2006/Old deleted. Does that mean you don't want it to be archived? - Mgm|(talk) 07:47, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Well, I've got the basic format down. You're going to have to fill those sections up with links to articles you want to edit (or have edited). You know them better than I do. If there's anything missing that you'd like to see, please let me know. - Mgm|(talk) 08:07, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fak of DARREN[edit]

  • What is this all about? I can't see any article you both edited. - Mgm|(talk) 10:19, 27 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Just cause you're older than me doesn't mean you can do whatever you want. Also why did you suddenly say that out of the blue? 'FLaRN' (talk) 14:56, 27 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks[edit]

I very much like my new barnstar. A final note. Make sure you use preview when editing the page. It's very easy to forget a tag and mess it up big time. I did it several times myself. - Mgm|(talk) 09:34, 27 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome. 'FLaRN' (talk) 14:57, 27 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Question[edit]

I'm wondering something, and I have trouble finding the answer. Did you ever start an article yet and if so, which ones were they? I'd like to offer someone (read:you) a barnstar if they can create an acceptable article from my wishlist. What are your interests? - Mgm|(talk) 11:35, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Yes, stubs are perfectly fine as long as you make an effort to write the perfect stub. Give me a yell if you find the time to have a go at a full article. I just created one today (In Dreams (2005 album)). It takes time indeed. I had the links researched for ages, just now I had the time to write it and it feels pretty good. - Mgm|(talk) 15:50, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Box[edit]

  • I couldn't get the div-code to align the box in the enter, so I extended the center tag from the line above. How does it look now? - Mgm|(talk) 21:23, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

September Esperanza Newsletter[edit]

Program Feature: Barnstar Brigade
Here in Wikipedia there are hundreds of wikipedians whose work and efforts go unappreciated. One occasionally comes across editors who have thousands of good edits, but because they may not get around as much as others, their contributions and hard work often go unnoticed. As Esperanzians we can help to make people feel appreciated, be it by some kind words or the awarding of a Barnstar. This is where the Barnstar Brigade comes in. The object of this program is to seek out the people which deserve a Barnstar, and help them feel appreciated. With your help, we can recognize more dedicated editors!
What's New?
September elections are upon us! Anyone wishing to be a part of the Advisory Council may list themselves as a candidate from 18 September until 24 September, with the voting taking place from 25 September to 30 September. Those who wish to help with the election staff should also list themselves!
Appreciation Week, a program currently in development, now has its own subpage! Share your good ideas on how to make it awesome there!
The Esperanza front page has been redesigned! Many thanks to all who worked hard on it.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  1. The proposals page has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
  2. Since the program in development Appretiaion week is getting lots of good ideas, it now has its own subpage.
  3. The September 2006 Council elections will open for nominations on 18 September 2006. The voting will run from 25 September 2006 until 30 September 2006. If you wish to be a candidate or a member of the elections staff, please list yourself!
  4. The new Esperanza front page design has but put up - many thanks to all who worked on it!
  5. TangoTango has written a script for a bot that will list new members of Esperanza, which will help those who welcome new Esperanzains greatly!

Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article 4231 menu, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at Talk:4231 menu. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached.--Ricksy 15:30, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

November Esperanza Newsletter[edit]

Program Feature: Admin Coaching (needs coaches!)
Admin Coaching needs coaches!!! If you are an administrator, or even a generally experienced user, do consider signing up to be a coach.

Admin Coaching, now being coordinated by HighwayCello, is a program for people who want help learning some of the more subtle aspects of Wikipedia policy and culture. People are matched with experienced users who are willing to offer coaching. The program is designed for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.

What's New?
The Tutorial Drive is a new Esperanza program! In an effort to make complicated processes on Wikipedia easier for everyone, Esperanza working to create and compile a list of tutorials about processes here on Wikipedia. Consider writing one!
A discussion on how Esperanza relates to the encyclopedia has been started; please add your thoughts.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  • The list of proposed programs has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
  • There is now a new program: the Tutorial Drive! Consider writing a tutorial on something you are good at doing on Wikipedia.
  • The suggestion of adding a cohesive look to all the Esperanza pages is being considered; join the discussion if you are interested!
  • In order to make a useful interlanguage welcome template, those involved in translation projects will be asked what English Wikipedia policies are most important and confusing to editors coming from other language Wikipedias.
  • A discussion of Esperanza's role in Wikipedia is being held, with all thoughts of all Esperanzians wanted!
  • Shreshth91 informed everyone that he will be leaving the Esperanza council as life is rather busy; his spot will be filled by the runner up from the last election, HighwayCello.

AfD Nomination: 4231 menu[edit]

I've nominated the article 4231 menu for deletion under the Articles for deletion process. We appreciate your contributions, but in this particular case I do not feel that 4231 menu satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion. I have explained why in the nomination space (see What Wikipedia is not and Deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/4231 menu. Consider changing your userpage[edit]

I am concerned that your userpage lists your picture, age, name, and location. If you are indeed a minor of 13, you should be aware that people can use this information to find you and harm you. Regardless of your age, however, you should never release personal information online. I haven't been a teenager for a long time, and I still don't put any personal information online ever. --Jayron32 06:36, 23 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Powerpuff Girls[edit]

I see you submitted a keep note on the article I marked for deletion, saying that many people like the Powerpuff Girls. That's where you're wrong. There are not that many people who like the Powerpuff Girls. The show was at its prime probably in 2000, but has since declined in popularity more each year since. The movie in 2002 was a flop, and the show jumped the shark with the fifth season, when creator Craig McCracken left and new writers took over. Marcus 12:22, 23 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
