Eric Jason Smith was born on July 1st, 1970 in Charleston, SC, USA. His mother is DeAnn Naomi Smith (maiden name Wilshire) and father is William Fredrick Smith (nicknamed Rick). Eric was born in the naval hospital on the base where his father was stationed. One year later, when Rick finished his military service, Eric adopted Kansas City, KS, his parent's hometown, as his new home.

Eric graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School in 1988.

Eric moved to Tulsa, OK in February of 1992. Eric accepted a job where he directed, photographed (Videographer), and edited a monthly program that was internationally syndicated entitled Fire By Nite. Eric left Fire By Nite in March of 1993 and pursued he freelance work again.

Eric moved to Nashville, TN in 1994.

In October of 1998, Eric moved back to the Kansas City metroplex.
