Talk:EMI (company)

Is the Columbia company mentioned in the merger here the same as the Columbia company already included in Wikipedia? I doubt it - since EMI is based in the UK, and the other company is clearly American. Perhaps it was a UK offshoot of the American company? Can anyone throw light on this?

Also - note that there does not appear to be a corresponding entry for Decca (or American London yet). Major early recording companies would surely have been EMI, RCA, Decca, Telefunken - are there any more? -- David Martland 05:49 15 Jun 2003 (UTC)

Sorting out the exact story of USA Columbia and UK Columbia, UK Decca and USA Decca, still needs work. Affiliated companies in different nations seemed to get bought out by different companies at times. I can often find a source talking about the label from the perspective of one nation, but I'm still having trouble getting the whole global narrative.
