Welcome![edit]

Hi Ford GT90, and a warm welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you have enjoyed editing as much as I did so far and decide to stay. Unfamiliar with the features and workings of Wikipedia? Don't fret! Be Bold! Here's some good links for your reference and that'll get you started in no time!

Most Wikipedians would prefer to just work on articles of their own interest. But if you have some free time to spare, here are some open tasks that you may want to help out :

  • RC Patrol - Keeping a lookout for vandalism.
  • Cleanup - Help make unreadable articles readable.
  • Requests - Wanted on WP, but hasn't been created.
  • Merge - Combining duplicate articles into one.
  • Wikiprojects - So many to join, so many to choose from...Take your pick!

Oh yes, don't forget to sign when you write on talk pages, simply type four tildes, like this: ~~~~. This will automatically add your name and the time after your comments. And finally, if you have any questions or doubts, don't hesitate to contact me on my talk page. Once again, welcome! =)

Images[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Gt90rear.jpg. I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag. Could you add one to let us know its copyright status? (You can use {{gfdl}} if you release it under the GFDL, or {{fairuse}} if you claim fair use, etc.) If you don't know what any of this means, just let me know where you got the images (on my talk page) and I'll tag them for you. Thanks so much, BrokenSegue 18:40, 19 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Article on the GT90[edit]

Please stop reverting other contributors' work. Wikipedia articles are not the property of one author, no matter who starts them. They are collaborative works which will be jointly improved. See that line at the bottom of the screen when you're editing? If you do not want your writing to be edited mercilessly and redistributed at will, do not submit it. We're serious about that, here.

Wikipedia has a policy called 'Neutral Point of View' (NPOV). What this means is that Wikipedia does not take a point of view on topics. Instead, we either report factually on uncontroversial topics, or we report neutrally on the points of view of others. This means we don't have flowery, praising prose in the neutral, encyclopedia author's voice. Instead, we find quotes and ascribe them to individuals or organisations. So we can say "Ford calls it ..." "Motor Trend dubbed it ...", etc etc. In this way, we convert opinions into facts. —Morven 21:54, Mar 22, 2005 (UTC)

Ford GT90 article[edit]

I was looking at the history of the Ford GT90 page, and I noticed that you have been reverting quite often the good-faith edits of others who were attempting to either add information or make the text more NPOV. Remember that Wikipedia is a collaborative process; we all can and should make edits where needed. You need to at least allow others to edit where they think it is needed; in fact, editing should be encouraged.

For example, I spent a lot of time rather recently on my first article, and I admit that I was angry when it was majorly edited right away. But now it really is a better article because of the other editors that took the time to try and make it better. I realized that it wasn't "MY" article in the first place; it was something that all the editors built. My (initial) defense of my writing was not good for the article itself.

While your style of writing in Ford GT90 is great for a news column or marketing, this is more of an encyclopedia entry; the writing needs to be more unbiased (see NPOV). And metric units in parentheses are standard for all U.S. cars and aircraft pages (European vehicles have metrics first, but also include both standards).

That said, thank you for contributing, and welcome to the Wikipedia community! --JimCollaborator 22:09, Mar 22, 2005 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:Cobrafront.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Cobrafront.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator.

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you have questions about copyright tagging of images, post on Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags or User talk:Carnildo/images. 06:53, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

License tagging for Image:Topimg.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Topimg.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 19:05, 21 April 2006 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Cobraback.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Cobraback.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 04:31, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Gt901.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Gt901.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast 16:35, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Gt90faceon.jpg[edit]

I have tagged Image:Gt90faceon.jpg as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. Thank you. Rettetast 16:36, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Rrpsp.jpg)[edit]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Gt90side.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Gt90side.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Angus McLellan (Talk) 00:24, 6 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
