Cleanup Needed[edit]

This article needs to be cleanup up in many areas:

  • The bold and italic quotes are very distracting and make the article difficult to read.
  • The "Financial Support" sections is basically just a list of quotes. Quotes can add a lot to article, but they shouldn't be over half the text of a section.
  • The "Students in Germany" section needs major copyediting.
  • Does "2000 Al-Qaida Summit" really need it's own section? If it does, the section should be expanded.
  • Many sections need copyediting to eliminate one sentence paragraphs.
  • Section titles such as "On the go" and "Were plotters already in the United States?" are somewhat too informal.
  • The "War Games Ran Parallel to Attacks" section seems to take up an unusually large amount of space.

This article has a lot of potential and I think these suggestions could greatly improve is quality. Carrp | Talk 20:41, 10 Feb 2005 (UTC)

  • The 2000 Al-Qaida thing is deliberately that way because the section has its own article. WhisperToMe 23:34, 10 Feb 2005 (UTC)
I did notice that there was a separate article and I actually debated whether I should include the suggestion on the above list. Perhaps if a sentence or two was added to emphasize the importance of the meeting. Also, I see it's called the "2000 Al-Qaida Summit", but it's stated that it was held in January 2001. Is that just a typo or is "2000 Summit" a misnomer? Carrp | Talk 00:37, 11 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Yes, it's 2000. I don't know how "2001" came to slip in there... WhisperToMe 04:08, 11 Feb 2005 (UTC)

'Some people have claimed that the operation was financed by elements of the Pakistani government, specifically within the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), as well as agents of the Saudi Arabian government working from within the United States.' - I suggest this be removed, unless there is a link to plausible external references.

Move[edit]

I highly suggest we move this article to Planning of the September 11, 2001 attacks as part of an attempt to distinguish and clarify specific articles. Sherurcij (talk) (bounties) 21:49, 15 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
