Orchids[edit]

Welcome to the Wikipedia community. I'm looking forward to working with you on orchids, or on plants in general. I have been working on the orchid pages for quite some time, first by expanding the article on the orchid family and then working on the stubs. At the moment I have reached Restrepia. When I'll have finished the last stub, I'll start all over again from A. I have downloaded lots of orchid images. For many of them, there was no article created yet. I have put them temporarily at List of Orchidaceae genera in anticipation of creating an article. As you can see, there is still a lot of work to be done. I would advise you to register as a participant in Wikipedia:WikiProject Tree of Life and read the instructions (and the many discussions). As to your remarks on Talk:Orchidaceae, I have answered them. Anyway, if there is any problem, you can always reach me at my user page. JoJan 17:04, 16 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Science lovers wanted![edit]

Science lovers wanted!
Hi! I'm serving as the wikipedian-in-residence at the Smithsonian Institution Archives until June! One of my goals as resident, is to work with Wikipedians and staff to improve content on Wikipedia about people who have collections held in the Archives - most of these are scientists who held roles within the Smithsonian and/or federal government. I thought you might like to participate since you are interested in the sciences! Sign up to participate here and dive into articles needing expansion and creation on our to-do list. Feel free to make a request for images or materials at the request page, and of course, if you share your successes at the outcomes page you will receive the SIA barnstar! Thanks for your interest, and I look forward to your participation! Sarah (talk) 20:14, 16 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
