I put an NPOV on this because we need context, exegesis and Muslim teaching. Modern Muslims don't tend to accept slavery and that should also be explained and sourced. It's also a very touchy issue if you are (were) allowed to have sex with your slaves and we should discuss this fairly. So, this needs some work. gren 21:00, 17 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Each of the three Abrahamic religions has practiced slavery. And adherents have slaughtered their enemies. I'd rather not use Wikipedia as a forum to debate which of the three can claim the moral high ground.
What would any of us do with that high ground, anyway? Fire artillery down on the other two groups, I guess. How that's going to solve anything is beyond me. -- Uncle Ed (talk) 23:13, May 24, 2005 (UTC)


How about adding the reference that slaves who demand freedom should be given the money with which to buy their freedom? (Sura 2 Verse 177).
