User:Mediator/candidates

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Everyone is welcome to place their own name, here if they think they would make a great mediator. Also, please feel free to nominate other people who you think would be good mediators (but leave them a note on their talk page first, eh?). Support and/or dissent is welcome.

I want to move this to Wikipedia:Mediation Committee, or elsewhere in the Wikipedia: space (maybe Wikipedia:mediators?), because I don't want to tie a list of good mediators to this specific proposal - I think it's proposal-independant. Martin 17:13, 15 Oct 2003 (UTC)

Upon discussion :

  • should there be only one mediator at a time, or could it be possible that several are ?
  • what should be the User:Mediator/handoff procedure ?
    • In case there is only one mediator at a time ?
    • If several ? If the ones listed are approuved by all the current mediators, they could just receive the password.

  • I do not think I can do a better job than the current "Mediator". But I will do whatever he asks me to do! --Uncle Ed 17:59, 10 Oct 2003 (UTC)
  • the current User:Mediator appreciates this and also support for Wikipedia:users in conflict name

Eclecticology

  • I'm willing to do my part (hopefully with adequate impartiality). Many volunteers for this will make for better assignments. User:Eclecticology

  • I nominate anyone or second the nomination of anyone who wants to be a mediator if they promise to approach mediation from a transformative justice perspective. There should be no monopoly in mediation. Anyone can do it if they think through the process carefully. It does not need to be anonymous, but being discrete can be a benefit as mediation is a confidential non-public process. If someone needs a User Advocate to help with dealing with a mediator or to help them organize their thoughts or discuss their issues without feeling the pressure of being in a somewhat adversarial situation or in preparation for a mediation session please contact me via email at my talk page and if I have free time I will try and help. — Alex756
    • I concur with you for the transformative justice perspective.Anthère

  • Support:Martin is suberb: suave, smooth, and committed to WikiUnity. --Uncle Ed 15:15, 10 Oct 2003 (UTC)
    • Even if you are not willing, you would be great in that role. ant
    • I nominate Martin to be a mediator but not the Mediator. — Alex756 18:24, 11 Oct 2003 (UTC)
    • Thanks for the compliments. I'm not a supporter of role accounts, but I am happy to help mediate where there's a dispute. Martin 17:09, 15 Oct 2003 (UTC)

Eloquence

  • Invited by "Mediator"
  • Second: Uncle Ed
  • Third : Anthère
  • I think Eloquence would make a better arbitrator than a mediator, judging from his excellent work organising the logo vote, for example. Which isn't to say he couldn't do both. Martin 17:09, 15 Oct 2003 (UTC)
