Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Care2x

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Care2x was proposed for deletion. This page is an archive of the discussion about the proposed deletion. This page is no longer live. Further comments should be made on the article's talk page rather than here so that this page is preserved as an historic record. The result of the debate was DELETE

This page is entirely on an open-source patient management software package. There are literally hundreds of this kind of programs available, and its only merit is that it is open-source. Otherwise its functions are completely identical to those in the same market segment. It also looks like an ad. JFW | T@lk 20:47, 3 Nov 2004 (UTC)

  • Comment; Is there an article this could be merged into? Open-source makes it notable (although not notable enough for its own article). Ashibaka 20:51, 3 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete: Advertising or promotion. Wikipedia is not Fresh Meat. Geogre 22:26, 3 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Could be useful, but it looks like advertising, especially given how recent the product is. Delete. Inky 00:55, 4 Nov 2004 (UTC)

  • Delete. This belongs to Freshmeat.net, not here. jni 12:49, 4 Nov 2004 (UTC)

  • Keep. Needs time for improvement. This is not an ad, currently just a short description. A non-profit project that benefits practically all people (who does not need health?) 80.131.77.7 14:52, 7 Nov 2004 (UTC)
    • Its greatest merit is being open-source. Let is us not forget that wikipedia's software is open-source too. Keep.
    • Guys, you can't vote without a username. Moreover, we need health but this does not mean that everybody needs Care2x. JFW | T@lk 15:43, 7 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete. A quick google search gave no evidence of notability. If I were more cynical, I would've been able to guess a lack of notability simply from the phrase "greatest merit is being open-source." - Lifefeed 15:56, Nov 8, 2004 (UTC)
  • Hi Folks, I am Latorilla and I am a real person using a real name coz I do not see any reason to hide behind any pseudonym. I've been watching this "delete" discussion for a while. Since it is obvious that almost everybody here wants to delete this page, I am wondering when you are going to finally delete it. Tomorrow? Next week perhaps? or shall we wait for some more negative comments? If you'd ask me, I want to delete this page immediately and now.Latorilla 16:54, 10 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Keep. To be fair one should first try to answer two questions:
  1. Do I know of any other Hospital Information System software that works over almost any hardware, any operating system architecture, any communication protocol, any database management system and that besides being free is fully peer reviewable using the scientific methodology?
  2. Is this a reason enough to warrant its entry in Wikipedia?
I wonder, if were we talking about Gaucher disease or Marfan syndrome, would a certain doctor show such a great level of expertize, or such a hurry into erasing a page about a subject that he does not fully understand?
Sometimes we just need to play Torquemada and feel some of the Inquisition power, don't we?
      • Well, it doesn't really surprise me. I've had my brush with it in these places. In fact, I would say, it is prevalent. I've visited all the user pages of the voters and decided that it is wiser to refrain from publishing my conclusions. I will vote for deletion not because this page is bad but because care2x does not need to justify itself in these places nor it deserves this mob trashing disguised as democratic public votation. It reminds of the dark middle ages. It is better for this page to back out voluntarily than get stoned to death. 80.131.89.136 10:28, 13 Nov 2004 (UTC)

This page is now preserved as an archive of the debate and, like other '/delete' pages is no longer 'live'. Subsequent comments on the issue, the deletion or on the decision-making process should be placed on the relevant 'live' pages. Please do not edit this page.
