First section[edit]

"Classic FM" is a very common name for a radio station or a radio program. Search in Google and you will find it is in use in many countries. Therefore there is no particular justification for using it for just the UK station. --Zero 12:43, 5 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

However, Classic FM in the UK was the first radio station of this name and particular format (although a station called Classique FM existed in Lyon in France about a year before Classic FM UK started in 1992). Classic FM UK subsequently opened a series of franchised or joint venture stations under the same name and using the same music library, scheduling system and station branding including Classic FM in the Netherlands, South Africa, Finland and as one of the Sony-Warner (SW) network of stations in the USA (Robin Ray, Classic FM's music programmer, successfully sued the station for breach of copyright of his 'star rating' system for clasasical music when the system was used by the overseas versions of the station). I've just been through the links to Classic FM and disambiguated them. Out of the 26, 25 of them were referring to the UK station. Therefore I feel this page should be at Classic FM, with a toplink to Classic FM (disambiguation). JRawle (Talk) 13:51, 18 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Notable Current Presenters[edit]

Many (most) of the featured people are no longer current. I'm happy to delete them, but that goes a bit against the grain, a loss of some of the station's history and evolution - increasingly an issue as it approaches 30 years of broadcasting. Criticism?[edit]

The article has very little in the way of comment on the style of the radio station. I am not suggesting that it becomes too POV, but that the fact that there are dissenting voices should be mentioned, I believe. The pick-and-mix of the daily output, and the sometimes over-sugared voices annoy many afficiniados of classical music. Not that I am one of them, I hasten to add! I agree. This reads rather like an advertisement for the station. The BBC radio 3 article is full of criticisms and comparisons to Classic FM, and I thinks something similar should be done here. This entire page contains countless statements with no evidence to back them up. Someone even just wrote "source: the times" at the end of the "History" section. This is not how you cite a source for your information and I have gone through and requested citations for the appropriate claims.

Image copyright problem with File:Classic FM logo.svg[edit]

The image File:Classic FM logo.svg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. Addition of TMC information?[edit]

Anne-Marie Minhall[edit]

I created the page Anne-Marie Minhall but some non-notable librarian in New York, in themerica, wants to delete it because his radio needs new batteries.

Identical logo for Classic FM (UK) and Classic FM (Netherlands)[edit]

Apparently not: Classic FM (UK) is own by Global Radio whereas Classic FM (Netherlands) is owned by Sky Radio Group. So what's the explanation for their sharing logos? Contact Basemetal here 19:43, 2 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Jane Jones[edit]
