Note that the links in the calendar at the upper right do not work with preferences set to another than the default date format, like October 1, 2004.--Patrick 15:32, Nov 2, 2004 (UTC)

Persistent leap in internet traffic around October 2004?[edit]

Does anyone know why Alexa recorded a significant leap in Web traffic on all major portal sites (but not on news sites or other types of sites) around October 2004? I can't find any reason for it but I consistently see this pattern in traffic data for portal sites.
