Image deletion warning The image Image:Steve finley mlb.jpg has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images. If the image's copyright status cannot be verified, it will be deleted. If you have any information on the source or licensing of this image, please go there to provide the necessary information.

--Wikiacc (talk) 17:33, Jun 21, 2005 (UTC)

Please stop changing this template to read "as of 2005". It is used on a large number of MLB player articles, most of which have not had their stats updated through the 2005 season. Changing it on the template changes it on each article it is used in. I will work on a solution that will alleviate this problem, but until then, please leave it as-is. android79 23:14, 17 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I've changed the template to use an additional parameter, statyear. This should eliminate any need for changing the template directly. android79 01:13, 18 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:Ph_111214.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Ph_111214.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. You can get help on image copyright tagging from Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags. -- Carnildo 00:05, 2 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Babe Ruth[edit]

I'm posting this message on you Talk Page either because you've contributed to the article Babe Ruth, or because you've edited other baseball or sports related articles. I've recently completed a revision of this article at Babe Ruth/rewrite. If you have the time, I'd appreciated it if you'd compare the articles and leave any feedback you might have on the rewrite discussion page. I'd like to reach a consensus before makeing major changes to the main article. Thanks for your help. --djrobgordon 20:46, 4 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:A dempster 275.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Image copyright problem with Image:Ph_114135.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Ph_114135.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

Image:Terry Adams Pit.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Terry Adams Pit.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Chowbok 03:21, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Wayne Franklin Atl.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Wayne Franklin Atl.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

Hi. Are you still around anywhere? I saw your baseball 1876 project and was intrigued but it looks like you left. —Wknight94 (talk) 19:20, 29 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Still here?[edit]

Yes, I'm still a member of Wikipedia. I've just been extremely busy lately and I haven't been able to get on to Wikipedia and make some serious contributions.

You mentioned that you were interested in my Baseball 1876 WikiProject, and I was wondering if you could help me get it started again, because it got deleted and you seemed to be the only person interested.

Thanks!

-Bookworm1

Now you're an IP? Did you forget your password?! Yes sorry, I nominated it for deletion because it had been abandoned. Take a look at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Wikipedia:WikiProject Baseball 1876 - folks seem to also think it might work better as part of WP:WPBB. The idea of focusing on 19th century baseball is a fantastic one IMHO but I'm not sure an entire WikiProject devoted to the concept is necessary. How about mentioning the idea at WT:WPBB? —Wknight94 (talk) 21:25, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm, I see you simply recreated the project. I'm puzzled. The deletion was almost unanimous with people saying it shouldn't be split off from WP:WPBB. —Wknight94 (talk) 02:21, 10 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Bookworm1. Ever since I first posted on the WikiProject Baseball talk page about my idea for the season team articles for Baseball teams a couple days ago, I have been waiting anxiously for somebody to join. However, I really wasn't expecting it to happen today. Thank you for deciding to contribute. If there is anybody you think would like to contribute as well, feel free to ask them. I would like to get all 30 teams started when the season starts because, and I know this from my experience doing the hockey articles, it is a pain in the butt to try to catch up. Thank you again for deciding to join. Hopefully this will be a good, complete project! Ksy92003 05:21, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Who says you have to upload a picture of this guy? The ballpark will be full of thousands of people that may do it. We don't want images owned by the MLB, we want free images. Replaceable doesn't mean you have to or the image must already exist, it just means that it's possible. As long as he's a MLB player, that is certainly the case. --MECUtalk 01:56, 21 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Bookworm1, an automated process has found an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, such as fair use. The image (Image:Wbc.gif) was found at the following location: User:Bookworm1/Subpage. This image or media will be removed per statement number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media will be replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. The image that was replaced will not be automatically deleted, but it could be deleted at a later date. Articles using the same image should not be affected by my edits. I ask you to please not re-add the image to your userpage and could consider finding a replacement image licensed under either the Creative Commons or GFDL license or released to the public domain. Please note that it is possible that the image on your page is included vie a template or usebox. In that case, please find a free image for the template or userbox. Jason Rees[edit]

A tag has been placed on Jason Rees requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Postoak 05:58, 8 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I PERSONALLY OBJECT! 71.102.189.146 06:01, 8 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

On this page, since I declined to speedy delete it, I also removed your {{hangon}} tag. That tag puts it back in the list to be speedily deleted, only with an opposing viewpoint. Since I declined the speedy in the first point, I also removed your reasoning. If you have any questions, please contact me on my talk page. - Philippe | Talk 06:04, 8 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Template:Old-time Base Ball Infobox requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. AfD nomination of Brad Baker[edit]

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Brad Baker. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Brad Baker. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:06, 23 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs[edit]

Hello Bookworm1! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 1,563 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Notice

The article Jason Rees (baseball) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:GNG and WP:NBASE. Only played in baseball leagues that do not confer presumption of notability.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. – Muboshgu (talk) 18:47, 14 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
