I couldn't find an authoritative, independent (outside of Wikipedia) website that classifies the Indian languages. Isn't Hindi the only official language (with English having "associate official" status)? The other languages, though officially recognized (by the constitution?), aren't termed "official languages", are they? rajneesh 09:54, 9 Aug 2004 (UTC)

They're all official. Hindi and English are official languages of the FEDERAL government. But all other languages receive recognition by the central gov't of India. --LordSuryaofShropshire 01:03, Aug 10, 2004 (UTC)
