The illustration (flag) used in this article is from the official webpage of Gangneung. There's a © on the page, so I've added the page to Wikipedia:Possible_copyright_infringements. Kokiri 00:24, 22 Dec 2003 (UTC)

I've now replaced the image with a cropped version, which removes the creative elements (borders, text) which could have exceeded the amount which is sufficient for the purpose of the article. Jamesday 09:13, 28 Jan 2004 (UTC)

Thanks James. :) Martin 23:45, 28 Jan 2004 (UTC)

Chinese placenames[edit]

The names here are not in any Chinese romanizations (Pinyin, Wade, etc): "Gangneung is twinned with the cities of...Jasing and Jingjow in China." So I assume it was translitered from Hangul directly. I guess they are Jiaxing and Jingzhou respectively. Are there Hanja to confirm this? --Menchi 00:53, 20 Sep 2004 (UTC)

I have no Chinese characters at hand, but the way the cities are currently (19:02, 9 January 2006 (UTC)) mentioned in the article, everything is clear. I have checked the spellings and provinces against a recent tourist brochure. Kokiri 19:02, 9 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Kangneung[edit]

I made a redirect from Kangneung. I'm assuming this is the same city. Maybe we need some more alternative spellings. --Gbleem 20:16, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Gangneung lake[edit]

It should be a Gyeongpo lake. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 155.230.23.41 (talk) 14:54, 2 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Tofu[edit]

The PBS cooking show Kimchi Chronicles just described this place -- what Bordeaux is to red wine, Gangneung is to tofu, and its one of the world's largest tofu producers. (They then went on to cook and taste a number of tofu dishes.) Should the tofu fame be mentioned in the article? --RThompson82 (talk) 00:46, 9 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Gangneung vs Gangreung?[edit]

The spelling looks like it should be pronounced "gangreung" or "gangleung". Explain? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.79.61.198 (talk) 14:14, 5 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It's difference in writing and reading of Korean language. It is written in "강릉"(Gangreung), but ending ㅇ and starting ㄹ makes it pronouncing "강능"(Gangneung). Revicomplaint? 14:52, 5 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
